Oregon Wolf OR7 Has First Litter of Pups

It is likely there are more pups as wolf litters typically number four to six pups.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Wolf in Oregon Wolf OR7 and a mate have produced offspring in southwest Oregon’s Cascade Mountains, wildlife biologists confirmed this week.

In early May, biologists suspected that OR7, originally from northeast Oregon, had a mate in the Rogue River - Siskiyou National Forest when remote cameras captured several images of what appeared to be a black female wolf in the same area.

Free Fishing, Crabbing in Oregon This Weekend

Free Fishing Weekend also aligns with State Parks Day.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - fishing in oregon Mark your calendars now for Oregon’s free fishing weekend June 7-8. For those two days only, you won’t need a license to fish, crab or clam anywhere in the state.

Even though licenses and tags will not be required over the two days, all other regulations apply including bag limit and size restrictions. At most events, there will be free fishing equipment first-time anglers can use.

Plan Now: Oregon State Parks Offer Free Camping This Saturday

According to weather.com on Saturday -- in the Salem and the mid-Willamette Valley -- the high temperature should be in the mid to lower 80's with an overnight low of 55 degrees.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Silver Falls State parks throughout Oregon will be free of charge this Saturday, June 7, in celebration of State Parks Day.

Camping is free Saturday night in tent and RV sites including full hookup sites which include sewer, electricity, and water. Parking is also free on Saturday at the 26 day-use parks that normally charge a fee.

Salem, Kayaker`s Body Recovered After Accidental Drowning

Police say there were no indications that her death was anything but a tragic accident.

(SALEM) - Team recovers the body of kayaker Sharon Mangan The body of Sharon Mangan, 59, was located on the edge of a slough at Minto-Brown Island Park this morning at about 10:20. Ms. Mangan, a resident of Salem, was reported missing to the Salem Police Department Thursday evening.

She was last been seen alone Tuesday at the park with her kayak. Mangan was an employee at the Oregon State Hospital.
