Alert Deputy Saves Elderly Man Along Oregon Coast

Trapped in his car, the elderly man used the floor mats to keep him warm during the night until he was found Thursday morning and rescued.

(WALDPORT, Ore. ) - Oregon Coast Car Crash An alert Benton County Sheriff's Office deputy found a vehicle Thursday morning down an embankment off Highway 34 belonging to an elderly Waldport man reported missing the day before to Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

At approximately 10:44 a.m., Benton County Deputy Chris Dale was patrolling along Highway 34 near milepost 51 checking for signs of a vehicle belonging to a missing elderly Waldport man.

OSP: Washington State Man Tried to Kill Hitchhiker from Canada

OSP troopers found the suspects vehicle and observed the victim's property and a knife inside the vehicle.

(BROOKINGS, Ore. ) - Oregon State Police SUV Oregon State Police arrested a 56-year old Washington man Saturday after he allegedly threatened to kill and robbed a hitchhiker at knife-point while giving the victim a ride along Highway 101 on the southern Oregon coast.

Oregon Coast Health Advisory Lifted at Two Beaches

State officials continue to encourage other recreational activities -- flying kites, picnicking, playing on the beach, and walking -- at all Oregon beaches.

(LINCOLN CITY, Ore. ) - D River Beach A public health advisory for contact with marine water at D River Beach, located in Lincoln County, and Heceta Beach in Lane County was lifted late Friday by the Oregon Health Authority.

The advisory was issued July 10 after water samples showed higher-than-normal levels of fecal bacteria in ocean waters.

Police all over Oregon will be out in force again tonight looking for impaired drivers. Remember: When in doubt, get a ride!

(SALEM, Ore. ) - University of Oregon Fireworks Show So if you missed out on any of the great fireworks displays on the 4th of July, never fear. There are plenty of events for the whole family on Saturday before fireworks displays light up the Saturday night skies in the Willamette Valley and the Oregon Coast.

Salem-Keizer Volcanoes - Fireworks after the game tonight against the Hillsboro Hops.

The Volcanoes continue their Patriotic Tribute series with game two versus the Hillsboro Hops. Salem-Keizer will send righty Nick Gonzalez (0-2, 3.94) to the mound to face Hops right-hander (1-0, 0.60). Tickets are still available for Saturday's contest with the gates opening at 5:00 p.m. in advance of a 6:35 p.m. scheduled start.

Willamette Valley Firefighter Killed While Kite Surfing on Oregon Coast

The victim is identified as 49-year-old Wylie Dale Johnson Jr., from Dundee. According to TVFR, Johnson was a firefighter for 19 years with TVFR.

(LINCOLN CITY, Ore. ) - North Lincoln Fire & Rescue #1 The Oregon State Police is investigating the death of a 49-year-old firefighter from the Willamette Valley in Lincoln City, Oregon.

Lincoln City Police and fire crews were dispatched Thursday afternoon, to the beach at Roads End State Park. The victim was apparently kite-surfing in the cool waters of the Pacific Ocean when the accident occurred.
