WOU Wolves drop GNAC opener to Wildcats

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - WOU Wolves logo Tarance Glynn posted his third straight double-double and Jordan Freelander came off the bench to score a career-high 18 points, but in the end it was a balanced scoring attack and strong second half that earned Central Washington an 87-78 win over Western Oregon in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference opener on today.

WOU Teacher Education Program Earns National Recognition

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - Western Oregon University Western Oregon University (WOU) has been named the 2010 recipient of the Christa McAuliffe Award for Excellence in Teacher Education by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), in recognition of exemplary performance in teacher education.

The purpose of the award is two-fold: to recognize excellence in teacher education programs and to advance the field of teacher education by identifying promising practices and critical issues related to measuring the impact of programs on teacher candidate knowledge and the impact of these teachers on pupil learning.

Wolves Fall in High-Scoring Affair

(Monmouth, Oregon) - Western Oregon University Wolves Four players reached double figures but it was not enough as the Western Oregon women’s basketball team fell to Dixie State 97-85 Friday, in the New P.E. Gym.

With the loss, WOU drops to 0-2 on the year while Dixie State remains undefeated at 2-0.

WOU continues to serve more students with new enrollment record

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - Western Oregon University Western Oregon University (WOU), Oregon's most nationally recognized small or mid-sized university, has reached another enrollment record with 6,233 students enrolled for fall 2010. This is an increase of 579 students (10 percent) over last year and a growth of 884 students (17 percent) over the past three years. Growth has grown in both undergraduate and graduate student populations and the student body is continually increasing in diversity.

Nelson`s Double-Double Leads WOU to Exhibition Win

(Newberg, Oregon) - Salem-News.com Sports Four members of the Western Oregon men’s basketball team scored in double figures as the Wolves came away with a 72-63 victory over George Fox in its exhibition opener, Saturday, Nov. 6.

Kolton Nelson and Kyle Long each had 17 points to lead the Western Oregon. Nelson also added 13 rebounds to complete the double-double. He went 7-of-11 from the field and 3-of-4 from the line. Long came off the bench to score his 17. He made 5-of-9 shots from the field, including a trio of three-point baskets. The Wolves also got 15 points from Blair Wheadon and 13 from Kris White.
