Blackhawk Joins Search for Missing Oregon Professor

Oregon Army National Guard assisting in Search mission for missing U of O professor.‏

(BEND, Ore.) - Army Blackhawk helicopter An aircraft from the Oregon Army National Guard has joined the search in Central Oregon for U of O Professor Daming Xu. The military helicopter was sent to the scene after a request from the Office of Emergency Management and Lane and Deschutes County Sheriff's Office.

They departed the Redmond Airport at 8:00 AM this morning and assisted with transporting ground crews to different search areas prior to beginning their aerial search.

Air Search Launched for Missing University of Oregon Professor

The CAP has launched one aircraft from Bend that is currently on scene.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - airplane An airplane from Oregon's Civil Air Patrol is currently assisting Sheriff authorities in the search for a missing hiker ,University of Oregon professor Daming Xu.

The CAP is providing a specially equipped communications support aircraft called a HIGHBIRD in support for the ground search teams and an Oregon Army National Guard helicopter assisting in the search efforts today.

(UPDATE) Missing Cherokee Boy Located in North Carolina

The Cherokee Tribal Police Department in North Carolina canceled the Amber Alert on Sunday night after the boy was found safe and reunited with his family. The suspects remain at large at this time.

(Cherokee, N.C.) - Derrick Taylor was abducted in North Carolina November 4, 2007 The Cherokee Tribal Police Department in North Carolina canceled the Amber Alert on Sunday night after the boy that was earlier reported missing, was found safe and reunited with his family.


The Cherokee Tribal Police Department in North Carolina issued the Amber Alert Sunday after the 14-year old boy was beaten and abducted by two white males. They remain at large at this time.

Police Searching for 14-Year old Washington Girl

(ALGONA, Wash.) - Suspect Claudio Madrigal-Cardenas and victim Miarlene Sales The Washington State Police and the Algona Police Department issued an Amber Alert on Wednesday afternoon after a girl was apparently abducted from her school on Tuesday morning. The Amber Alert has been canceled but the girl is still missing.

The girl police are looking for is Miarlene Sales. The suspect and victim may be headed to California or Mexico. Miarlene Sales is described as a 14-year old Hispanic female with black hair and brown eyes. She is five feet tall and she weighs 110 pounds.

Driver Flees Scene After Smashing Into Apartment

A truck crashed into an apartment building actually impacting the kid's bedroom. Fortunately, they had fallen asleep in another room and were unhurt.

(ALOHA, Ore.) - Scene in Aloha, Oregon where a truck crashed into an apartment building 19-22-07 Early Friday morning, a man driving a pickup truck crashed into the side of an apartment building in Aloha. His vehicle struck the room where children normally sleep and caused severe damage to the building. The driver of the truck fled the scene, and deputies are asking for the public’s help in finding him.

Sgt. David Thompson, Public Information Officer with the Washington County Sheriff's Office, says deputies were dispatched to the scene in Aloha where a pickup truck had crashed into an apartment building.

Missing Newberg Man Located

Sheriff Jack Crabtree says he is thankful that Mr. Callas was located safe and sound.

(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) - Yamhill County Sheriff's Office badge, Oregon The Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office terminated a Search and Rescue operation just after 12:00 PM today for 55-year old Donald Stuart Callas of rural Newberg, Oregon.

Sheriff Jack Crabtree says this concludes an intensive search that spanned a 2 day period involving deputies, search and rescue volunteers, canines, air operations, and the Salvation Army.

Skeletal Remains Found by Hunter Near Albany

Preliminary findings indicate the victim may be a Caucasian male who has been deceased from two to 12 months

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Skeletal remains were discovered by a hunter in a remote area of Linn County Saturday afternoon. Sheriff Tim Mueller in Linn County says the human skeleton was found near McCully Mountain Road, south of Lyons. Mueller say deputies responded to the area and confirmed that it was in fact human.

"Linn County Sheriff's Detectives and members of the Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Post conducted an evidence search on Sunday and recovered the remains, which were then sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Portland."

Nine Missing WWII Airmen Recovered in Germany

Their trip home comes more than sixty years after their deaths.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - B-24 Liberator The Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office announced today that the remains of nine U.S. servicemen, missing in action from World War II, have been identified and are being returned to their families for burial with full military honors.

On July 7th, 1944, the men were aboard a B-24J Liberator that departed North Pickenham, England, on a mission to bomb a German aircraft factory near Bernburg, Germany. The plane was last seen by U.S. aircrew members in that vicinity. Captured records revealed that it had crashed near Westeregeln, about 20 miles northwest of the target in what would become the Soviet sector of a post-war-divided Germany.

No Sign Yet of Plane Missing in Washington

"We have two single engine aircraft flying grid searches, and two helicopters. In addition we have a number of ground crews searching as well." - Nisha Marvel, Washington Transportation Dept.

(SEATTLE, Wash.) - Cessna 207 Caravan A small airplane has reportedly crashed on a flight between Idaho to Shelton, Washington. 10 people were aboard the Cessna 208 Caravan that left the ground in Boise at 7:00 PM.

Authorities became alarmed when the plane failed to return to Shelton as a flight plan indicated. Nisha Marvel, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Transportation, told Salem-News.com that a number of resources have been deployed to help located the missing aircraft.
