Balloonist Attempting Record Flight From Japan to Oregon Feared Missing (VIDEO)

Michio Kandia had checked in every two hours with a satellite phone. The last message was received shortly after he crossed the International Date Line, early Friday.

(JUNEAU, Alaska) - Missing Balloonist Michio Kanda The Coast Guard is continuing its search in the North Pacific Ocean for Michio Kanda. a balloon pilot reported missing approximately 435 miles south of Adak Island.

He was trying to top a long-distance world record of 4,767 miles (7,671 km) according to the Anchorage Daily News. Mr. Kanda was reported missing after he failed to check in with his support team by satellite phone, shortly after crossing the International Date Line.

Amber Alert Issued for Texas Girl

Authorities say the child was recovered.

(EL PASO, Texas) - This is the image Texas Police will illuminate on freeway billboards to draw attention to the missing child. The Amber Alert was canceled by the El Paso Police after the girl was found safe on Thursday evening in El Paso.

No information is available on the suspects at this time.

Police Need Help Locating Missing Oregon Man

Anyone who sees Paul Millard Upton should call 911.

(GRESHAM, Ore.) - Paul Millard Upton Gresham Police are asking for the public's assistance in locating a 70-year-old missing Gresham man who is in danger of suffering a stroke if he doesn't receive a dose of his medications.

Paul Millard Upton was last seen at 9:00 AM as he was leaving out the back door of Chestnut Lane, the assisted living facility where he lives at 1219 NE 6th, Gresham. Mr. Upton is deaf and his closest family is in Sutherlin, Ore.

Body Discovered Near Pistol River Wayside South of Gold Beach

Police rule the death a probable suicide but they didn't find a weapon.

(GOLD BEACH, Ore.) - Death investigation Police on the southern Oregon coast say a man found deceased near the shore line on a beach about 1/3 mile south of Pistol River Wayside Saturday afternoon is believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Remains in Chicago Not Those of Stacy Peterson

News sources report that the body was found about a hundred feet from some train tracks just south of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal.

(CHICAGO) - Stacy Peterson has been missing since October 28th, 2007 Police in Chicago Police say the human remains found near the Chicago River on the city's southwest side are not related to the disappearance of Stacy Peterson. Authorities reported initially that the remains bore a striking similarity.

Soldier Killed During Korean War Recovered at Chosin Reservoir

Billy MacLeod was a member of Company B, 32nd Infantry Regiment, then making up part of the 31st Regimental Combat Team, 7th Infantry Division, operating along the eastern banks of the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Chosin Reservoir The Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office announced today that the remains of a U.S. serviceman, missing from the Korean War, have been identified and returned to his family for burial with full military honors.

He is Private First Class Billy M. MacLeod, U.S. Army, of Cheboygan, Michigan. He was buried Saturday in Cheboygan.

Driver Sought Over Collision with Bicyclist Sunday in Clackamas

A driver who struck a man walking his bike Sunday is not in legal trouble, but police need to hear from her.

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - Clackamas Oregon Sheriff's car Investigators in Clackamas have an unusual situation on their hands, and they need to hear from a driver whose car struck a bicyclist on Sunday.

Jim Strovink with the Clackamas County Sheriff says that just before 11:00 AM, 68-year old Howard Joel Dempsey was walking his bicycle in the intersection of SE Johnson Creek Boulevard and Bell Avenue, when he was struck by an oncoming automobile that had proceeded against the red light.

Victim and Drivers Identified in Fatal Pedestrian Crash

Police want to hear from anybody who may have been a witnesses to the fatal crash.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Death investigation update Oregon State Police have identified the people involved in a fatal pedestrian accident that happened Friday night at approximately 7:45 PM, on northbound Interstate 5 just north of Market Street in Salem.

OSP Sergeant Dale Young says 54-year old Richard Lee Whittington, who had a last known address in Cave Junction, was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near milepost 258 on foot from the center median to the eastbound shoulder when he was struck by two vehicles.

Police Say Man Was Arrested After Digging Grave

The man was held at gunpoint by a homeowner who discovered him digging the man sized hole.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - A possible grave site discovered 1-10-08 in Washington County, Oregon Washington County Sheriff's Detectives are seeking information in a case where a man was discovered digging what appears to be a grave.

Sgt. David Thompson with the Washington County Sheriff's Office says the man was arrested for trespassing, and detectives need to determine if anyone associated with him is missing or will be in danger if he is released from custody.
