Man Arrested on Drug and Child Endangerment Charges in Salem

What started out as a domestic disturbance call turned into a drug arrest.

(SALEM, Ore.) - A 29-year old Salem man was arrested on October 7th after officers located Heroin, Methamphetamine, evidence of illegal narcotics distribution and firearms in his house. He was charged with a number of drug and child endangerment-related charges and booked into the Marion County Jail.

The incident began early in the morning on October 7th when patrol officers were called to 3831 Homestead Rd S regarding a domestic disturbance.

Methamphetamine Found In Yamhill County Traffic Stop

(YAMHILL, Ore.) - On October 6th The Yamhill County Interagency Narcotics Team (YCINT) seized approximately 3 ounces of methamphetamine from a man with a lengthy history involving drugs.

James Junior Valencia, 32, of Dayton was the passenger of a vehicle stopped by patrol deputies on Hwy. 240 near Williamson Road. The stop happened at the request of YCINT detectives after developing probable cause.

Search Warrant Leads to Methamphetamine Arrest in West Salem

(SALEM, Ore.) - On October 5, 2010 the Yamhill County Interagency Narcotics Team (YCINT) executed a search warrant at a West Salem apartment after discovering methamphetamine was being sold from the location. The investigation was made a priority when it was discovered a young child also lived at the residence and that the location was located directly next door to a grade school.

METH-BUSTERS Strike Again in Stayton

House Passes Bill Combating Metal Theft

Metal theft has become a major threat to public safety, business and agriculture.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The Oregon House on Thursday unanimously passed legislation to combat metal theft, completing a three-year process and a bipartisan effort to stem the growth in metal theft. SB 570 imposes new fines and penalties on metal thieves and improves the ability of the state’s law enforcement community to monitor transactions.

State Rep. Brent Barton (D-Clackamas) and State Rep. Andy Olson (R-Albany) were the House participants in a bicameral work group that came up with the final agreement.

Senate Reclassifies Methamphetamine, Increases Penalties for Delivery of Certain Drugs

The reclassification of methamphetamine as a Schedule I controlled substance means the drug is considered to have a high tendency of abuse and has no accepted medical use.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The Senate passed legislation this morning reclassifying meth to a higher schedule for controlled substances and increasing the penalty for manufacturing or delivering certain drugs when they play a role in a person’s death. Senate Bill 728 passed the Senate 26-2.

(CANBY, Ore.) - Police say a multi-agency investigation involving the Mid-Columbia Interagency Narcotics Task Force (MINT) and Canby Police Department led to the seizure of suspected methamphetamine-related chemicals and materials at a rural Wasco County home that would yield approximately $2.7 million of methamphetamine.

The eight-month investigation reportedly led detectives from MINT, Canby Police Department and Oregon State Police on February 4, 2009 to serve a search warrant at 365 NW 4th Street in Dufur.

Salem Police Bust Meth Lab at Wallace Marine Park‏

This outdoor lab and another located in a park are the first Salem PD has seen in 2008.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem Police located the makings of a methamphetamine laboratory at Wallace Marine Park Wednesday and they subsequently arrested a 49-year old transient for this incident as well as a similar incident at Minto Brown Island Park on October 16th.

Lt. Dave Okada with Salem Police says their Downtown Enforcement Team was conducting a sweep of the area around Wallace Marine Park on the afternoon of October 22nd when they encountered 49-year old Charles Best in a transient camp.

"Officer Scott Emmons made contact with Best at the scene and developed information that Best may have been involved in the methamphetamine laboratory that was located at Minto Brown Island Park during the previous week."

Meth addicts are human beings operating on a distinctly different level from all others. For the public, their own children and families, and in this case, an Oregon drag strip, they represent a hazard. Meth users are way more dangerous to society than other drug violators. The problem is not getting any better; we have our priorities extremely mixed up.
