Family Escapes Burning House in Jefferson‏

One firefighter was transported to the hospital suffering from heat exhaustion.

(JEFFERSON, Ore.) - House fire in Jefferson, Oregon 9-21-07 A family is safe this afternoon thanks to a smoke alarm and knowing that a quick exit from a burning house is above all the most important thing to do when your house is on fire. They lost the contents of their home however, and the public will have a chance to lend them a hand.

The fire appears to have started in the laundry room area and the fire is under investigation by the Marion-Polk County Fire Investigation Team at this time.

Wind Causes Agricultural Burn to Spread‏ Near Jefferson

It is a reminder that fire season is not over. Open burning is not permitted at this time, and agricultural burning is only allowed by permit.

(JEFFERSON, Ore.) - Jefferson Fire engine Jefferson Fire District fire apparatus and personnel were called to a brush fire in the area of I-5 and Ankeny Hill Road late this afternoon.

A couple was burning three piles of sawdust and brush in different locations when the gusty afternoon winds caused two of the brush piles to spread, starting multiple fires in an adjacent field.

The incident knocked out power in a significant area within Millersburg and Albany.

Jefferson Firefighters Respond to Brush Fire Along I-5

The cause of the fire is unknown.

(JEFFERSON, Ore. ) - jefferson fire photo Jefferson firefighters responded to a brush fire on Ankeny Hill Rd. east of I-5 next to the Ankeny Hill - I-5 Interchange (Exit 243) at 3:07 PM Wednesday afternoon.

According to Asst. Chief Scott Shepherd, the fire was approximately 40 feet by 40 feet and burned thick brush and did spread into some nearby trees and was located on state property.

Family of Four Survives Fire; 100 Chicks Lost

A warming lamp for the chicks being placed too close to combustibles is most likely the cause of the fire.

At 12:42 AM this morning, Pete DeJager noticed that a shed next to his renter's home located at 3052 Wintel Rd. west of Jefferson was fully engulfed in flames.

The fire was already melting the siding on their single wide mobile home as the family slept.

House Fire in Jefferson Displaces Family

The Willamette Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting the family.

(JEFFERSON) - Fire scene in Jefferson Firefighters from Jefferson were called to a house fire at 1058 Talbot Rd. SE in Jefferson just after noon Thursday.

No one was home at the time of the fire which has been blamed on a propane heater too close to a wall.

Approximately half of the home suffered heavy fire damage and the other half heavy smoke damage.

House Fire in Jefferson Displaces Residents

Damage to the home is estimated at over $20,000.

(JEFFERSON) - Fire Scene in Jefferson, Oregon Jefferson Fire units responded to a house fire Monday morning at 11:30 at 364 Marion Street. They say the resident was wise to get out after the fire was initially spotted.

51-year-old Melana Mendez, was in another room of the house when she heard popping and crackling.

She began smelling smoke and when she reached the kitchen saw flames going up her kitchen cabinets and wall near the stove.

Donations Needed For Jefferson Firefighters Holiday Food Baskets

The food baskets will be assembled and delivered to needy families on the morning of Saturday, December 16th.

(JEFFERSON) - Jefferson firetruck The Jefferson Volunteer Firefighters will once again be preparing and delivering food baskets to those in need living within our Jefferson and Millersburg communities.

Canned food donations as well as financial contributions are needed.

Last year approximately 80 baskets were prepared for delivery which included canned food, ham or turkey, and fresh vegetables.

Iverson Family Farms is a diversified agricultural operation. They cultivate a variety of crops on their 3000 acres. Crops include grass seed, vegetables, tulips and daffodils.

Iverson Family Farms has also presented the Woodburn Tulip Festival for 21 years. The Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze is their specialty. The pumpkin patch and corn maze brought in approximately four thousand visitors in 2004 and ten thousand in 2005.
