The Burka: A Taliban Imposed Canvas Prison

Traditional dress for Muslim women?

(SAN FRANCISCO) - Afghan women in historic Mazur-e-Sharif near the Blue Mosque. Salem-News.com photos by Tim King On our Iran Air flight from Frankfurt to Tehran, each of the stewardesses wore a "hijab." When we entered Iran's airspace, an announcement over the intercom told the women to put on their hijab or a head scarf.

My wife, as did the other women on the flight, obliged by putting scarves on their heads. My wife wore a scarf covering her hair for our entire Iran visit.

Soldier Suicides: They are Killing my Infantry Buddies

Recruiting and retention are decreasing drastically. Fighting ones enemies is bad enough, when a soldier has to fight his superiors and the VA when he gets out it’s worse.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Army at war Suicides are increasing, alcoholism is increasing, illegal drug use is increasing, spousal murder is increasing, recruiting is decreasing, retention is decreasing.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE STATISTICS????

One can be ordered to perform a real suicide battle mission as simply as one could be ordered to clean his rifle or shave.

In Support of President Obama

Unfortunately, there is little media attention given to how much he has done in his first 17 months in office.

(SAN FRANCISCO) - U.S. President Barack Obama I voted for Barack Obama for president because I saw him as left of center. Obama's record as an Illinois state senator (1997-2004) and his short time as a U.S. Senator (2005-2008) provided me with little or no evidence that he was a progressive or a far-left liberal.

Great American Heroes: Ho Chi Minh, Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden

Each worked closely with the US military, where's the appreciation?

(SALEM, Ore.) - Ho Chi Minh, Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden for America I'd wager that many people looked at the title to this story and assumed this is some tongue-in-cheek notion I came up with for shock value; after all those guys - being American heroes? You would be fair to think I've been out in the sun a little too long.

This might be my most offbeat tribute ever. 'Uncle Ho', Hussein and bin Laden; all men who ended up on America's most hated list before their time was through, but the title is true to form and is really unfortunate, and uncomfortable. Each was an ally for US missions and interests overseas.

John McCain: A Closer Look at Evil (Part 2)

McCain's future is uncertain, but the consistency of his behavior ensures his eventual exposure.

(TEMPE, Az.) - Arizona Senator John McCain The political genealogy of Arizona Senator John McCain is firmly rooted in organized crime. Gus Greenbaum, an influential mobster, was close to Meyer Lansky in New York before going to work for the Chicago Outfit. In 1928, Greenbaum moved to Phoenix.

In 1941, Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel became enamored with Nevada as a center for gambling and prostitution. With Lansky’s help, syndicate operatives advanced funds to build the Flamingo, a gambling resort named after Virginia Hill, a nightclub dancer, mob courier and Siegel’s lover.

John McCain: A Closer Look at Evil (Part 1)

Christian-Zionist Senator Jon Kyl of Arizona teamed up with John McCain and Jewish-Zionist Senator Joe Lieberman to market the phony intelligence that took us to war in Iraq.

(TEMPE, Az.) - Arizona Senator John McCain I am a constituent of Arizona Senator John McCain, a 2008 presidential contender. I reside in the Congressional District where he ran for Congress four years before the expected 1986 retirement of Senator Barry Goldwater.

McCain’s career was modeled after that well-known Republican maverick.

VA Does the Unthinkable, Relaxing Official Federal Position on Medical Marijuana

Possibly the biggest news in the modern history of marijuana decriminalization.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Soldier in Afghanistan The Veterans Administration (VA) is relaxing the rules for veterans who use medical marijuana in states where it is legal.

Experts and activists are calling the decision historic; it will certainly change the position of many vets currently receiving care, who until now have been restricted under VA rules, to dangerous morphine based drugs for treatment; pills that are both highly addictive, and deadly.

Sharing a belief system; conservative Americans all too often bring more shame than good.

In the midst of all of our pain and uncertainty as a nation, we discover that a prominent aspect of the Tea Party set; the Concerned Women for America, shares the same belief system with those dreaded bastards from Topeka who regularly protest U.S. military funerals while stomping U.S. flags into the ground.
