Sedition Law is Against Spirit of Democracy

(NEW DELHI) - Sedition I was convicted of sedition (section 124 of the IPC) on Christmas eve 2009, and awarded life imprisonment. I had already spent two years in jail as an undertrial before the Supreme Court granted me bail.

Following my conviction, another four months was spent in a solitary cell before the Supreme Court suspended the sentence and granted bail, remarking in the process that there did not seem to be any evidence against me.

(COLOMBO, Sri Lanka) - Kundankulam protest last week in India turned deadly Sri Lanka is not in a position to claim compensation if a nuclear disaster occurs in South India and would also be unable to do anything in the event a nuclear accident occurs in the Kundankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP), just 240 km away from Sri Lanka.

According to an estimate, about one third of world’s poor lived in India.

(RENO,NV) - Starving children in India India is top in the world for under-five deaths at 1.7 million, which is 24% of the share of total number of such deaths, according to a new UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund) report.

Under-5 mortality rate of India was 61 in 2011, where neonatal causes, followed by pneumonia were the highest cause of such deaths.
