OCA Calls for Boycott of Nestle USA`s Organic Gerber Baby Food and Sweet Leaf Tea

Nestlé was recently caught laundering over $1 million through the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) to defeat Washington State’s I-522 GMO labeling initiative

(FINLAND, Minn. ) - The Organic Consumers Association (OCA) today called on its million-plus network to boycott Nestlé USA’s organic Gerber Baby Food and Sweat Leaf Tea.

Last year Nestlé contributed $1.5 million to help narrowly defeat Proposition 37, a California initiative to label GMOs. This year, rather than openly admit to consumers that the company is trying to hide the truth about the GMO ingredients in its products, Nestlé secretly funneled over $1 million, through the Grocery Manufacturers Association, to the campaign to defeat Washington State’s I-522 GMO labeling initiative.

American Farmers Appeal to U.S. Supreme Court to Seek Protection from Genetic Contamination and Invalidate Monsanto's Patents on Genetically Engineered Crops.

(NEW YORK) - A group of 73 American organic and conventional family farmers, seed businesses and public advocacy groups asked the U.S. Supreme Court today to hear their case against Monsanto Company challenging the chemical and biotech seed giant's patents on genetically engineered seed.

In Organic Seed Growers and Trade Association (OSGATA) et al v. Monsanto, the plaintiffs have been forced to sue preemptively to protect themselves from being accused of patent infringement should their fields ever become contaminated by Monsanto's genetically engineered seed, something Monsanto has done to others in the past.

Appeals Court Binds Monsanto To Promise Not To Sue Organic Farmers

The Organic Seed plaintiffs’ complaint detailed Monsanto's abusive business and litigation tactics that have put several farmers and independent seed companies out of business.

(WASHINGTON DC) - Court of Appeals judges affirmed the Southern District of New York's previous decision that the plaintiffs did not present a sufficient controversy to warrant adjudication by the courts.

However, it did so only because Monsanto made repeated commitments during the lawsuit to not sue farmers with “trace amounts” of contamination of crops containing their patented genes.
