Surveillance Video Released After Vandalism Spree in North Portland`s Portsmouth Neighborhood

Early Monday May 5, 2014, officers arrested 20-year-old Richard David Simms Jr. for a string of arson fires in North Portland's Portsmouth neighborhood.

(PORTLAND) - Richard David Simms Jr. 20 On Saturday May 3, 2014, between 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m., numerous fires were set by an unknown suspect in North Portland's Portsmouth neighborhood.

A total of six fires were set, including two house fires, two vehicle fires, one recycling bin, and one abandoned chair in a parking lot. Additionally, there were at least two additional acts of vandalism where rocks were thrown at two car windshields. There were no reported injuries as a result of any of these incidents.

One Pet Dies in NE Salem House Fire

No firefighters were injured battling the house fire. One power line did burn and fall down onto the house, forcing crews to work around it.

(SALEM) - Salem, Oregon house fire 4-17-14 The homeowner at the scene of a fire at 2150 Lansing Avnue NE in Salem, told Salem-News.com that he had been welding a short time before discovering the fire. Battalion Chief Cord Van Derahe, confirmed that what turned out to be a two alarm house fire, started in the garage, and extended into the primary residence of the house.

In spite of the flames seen in this video, there was, "...minimal damage to the house, it was mostly just to the garage and one car," Van Derahe said.

Explosion at Ernst Irrigation Rocks St. Paul

"I heard a very loud boom when I was coming out to my car" - witness, Mark Winder

(ST. PAUL) - Lifeflight Firefighters in Saint Paul called for a Life Flight helicopter after responding to an emergency at Ernst Irrigation where an apparent industrial fire broke out. The Life Flight was eventually canceled, and the patient was transported to the hospital by ground ambulance.

Fire officials confirmed that an explosion occurred and one man was injured. The blast and fire happened at Ernst Irrigation, 20179 Main Street.

Driver Escapes Burning Car on I-5 South MP222 Between Tangent and Halsey

The driver rolled to a stop and exited in time, soon the car was engulfed in flames.

(TANGENT, OR) - Car fire near Tangent Oregon 4-1-14 Local officials responded to a car Fire on I-5 south bound near MP222, this is between Tangent and Halsey. It happened Tuesday at 20:55 PM 4-01-14.

Only one car was involved, according to Dennis Weis, Firefighter/Photographer with the Tangent Fire Dept. One person who was the driver, got out in time after he pulled over the side of the Freeway, Weis explained.

Off-Duty Deputy Rescues Two People from Burning Vehicle

A vehicle crashed at a high rate of speed and burst into flames. There were three occupants, two of them were unconscious. The vehicle caught fire as an off-duty Washington County Deputy Sheriff pulled the unconscious occupants from the vehicle.

(PORTLAND) - Crash in Portland, 3-29-14 Saturday at 8:11 p.m., deputies were called to the scene of a serious collision on SW Springhill Road, north of the intersection of SW Laurelwood Road.

A 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee was northbound on SW Springhill Road traveling at a high speed when it crashed and caught fire.

OSP SWAT Helps Take Two in Custody Following Attempt to Elude in Jefferson County

Two suspects are under arrest, facing numerous charges.

(PORTLAND) - 23-year old Brent Waldorf Two people were taken into custody Sunday morning after trying to hide in a residence leading to an over two hour standoff with Oregon State Police (OSP), Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and Warm Springs Police Department.

OSP is continuing the investigation. The name of the female and a list of charges are provided in this update.

Dayton Fire District Receives a Year Supply of Toilet Paper from Charmin

Charmin is donating nearly 50,000 rolls of toilet paper to firehouses in every state. Each firehouse will receive 960 rolls, which is a year supply of toilet paper for 20 firefighters.

(DAYTON) - Dayton, Oregon fire dist Today, as a part of the Charmin Relief Project, Charmin is donating 960 rolls, which is a year supply of toilet paper for 20 firemen, to the Dayton Fire District in Dayton, OR.

It is part of a nationwide donation to one fire house in every state – that’s nearly 50,000 rolls of toilet paper to 50 firehouses in 50 states.

Three Rescued from Clackamas River East of Estacada

Thet were identified as Branton Shows 50 years old, Kayla Pletcher 40 years old, and Alex Pletcher 19 years old, all of Estacada.

(CLACKAMAS) - Clackamas River A 911 call came in of 3 people stranded on the Clackamas River up stream from the confluence of the Collawash River east of Estacada.

Rescuers were able locate three adults who were stranded on the opposite side of the river from the roadway.

Woman Loses Pet Dog in Salem Apartment Fire

Elderly female resident fortunately was not home when the fire broke out.

(SALEM) - Woman who lost dog in fire Salem firefighters responded to an apartment fire tonight shortly after 8:00 pm, at 3235 Felina Ave NE. Due to the nature of the fire, a second alarm was called before the first units arrived on the scene.

Nobody was hurt, Salem Fire Dept. Battalion Chief Reed Godfrey explained, but the woman did lose her dog in the fire.
