Salem Firefighters Battle Two-Alarm Fire

No injuries were report at the time of the release.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Photo of fire in Salem Monday on 19th Street SE Salem firefighters responded to a single-story residual structure fire located at 515 19th street SE this morning at 8:39 a.m.

Fire Department Spokesman Bill Holmstron says the first arriving firefighters discovered flames and smoke coming form the residence. Holmstrom says firefighters battled the fire about 15-minutes before they had the fire under control.

Victims in Salem Fire Died of Gunshot Wounds

Police say they are going through a slow and meticulous process due to the fire damage.

Salem Police Investigate Three Bodies in Commercial Structure Fire

Firefighters discovered the remains of three human beings inside the building.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Salem Police investigators are on the scene of a fire that ripped through a commercial business in Salem Sunday evening.

Salem Police Lt. Dave Okada says it is too soon to know very much; as of mid-morning, the bodies had not yet been removed from the building.

Fire at Canby High School Triggers 1700 Student Evacuation - Suspicious Fire Prompts Concern

(CANBY, Ore.) - Fire at Canby High A manual fire alarm pulled at Canby High School Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. triggered a response that would lead to the evacuation of more than 1700 students.

Troy Buzalsky, Division Chief with Canby Fire, says Canby Fire units were immediately enroute; with crews learning via the school that there was a fire inside the girls restroom, in the 200 wing.

Flatbed Trailer Flips and Spills Jersey Barriers on Interstate 5 in Salem (PHOTOS)

The driver was not injured and there were no other vehicles involved.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Semi rollover on I-5, Salem, Oregon 3-8-09 The northbound lanes of Interstate 5 in the Salem area were closed for about 30 minutes Sunday afternoon when a commercial trailer flipped onto its side spilling its load of jersey barriers across the freeway.

Oregon State Police say around 11:50 a.m. a commercial truck was pulling two flatbed trailers loaded with jersey barriers was operated by northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 256.

Firefighters Pack Senate to Celebrate Passage of HB 2420

Legislation adds to the list of diseases that are covered by workers comp.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon State Capitol Oregon firefighters packed the Oregon Senate gallery this morning to witness the final vote on a bill that ensures they will not be denied health coverage for certain job-related diseases.

HB 2420 expands the list of cancers presumed to be work related and covered under worker’s compensation insurance.

Tualatin & Hillsboro Firefighters Extinguish Apartment Fire

Four of the eight apartment units within the building sustained fire and water damage with the tenants of the units being displaced.

(TUALATIN, Ore.) - Fire in Tualatin, Oregon 2-18-09 Firefighters in Tualatin were called to an apartment fire at the Amber Court Apartments, located at 692 SW 201ST Avenue in Washington County, last night at 10:22 p.m.

On arrival, crews found heavy fire coming from one side of a 2-story building and thick black smoke coming from the eaves. While firefighters evacuated the building and did a search of the affected units, other crews began a quick attack on the fire.

Fumes Send 43 People to Local Hospitals (PHOTO SERIES)

It is believed that the illnesses happened because a volunteer parent was preparing for an art project and used Krylon Crystal Clear acrylic spray before school started.

(LAKE OSWEGO) - Fumes at a Lake Oswego school 2-5-09 Westridge Elementary School Principal Dr. Scott Lane contacted the fire department about an odor in the school this morning at 10:23 a.m.

"They could not find a source at that time one student was complaining of nausea and dizziness," Lake Oswego Fire Department Spokesman Gert Zoutendijk said.

He says that when Truck 211 arrived, it was the first unit on scene, and they quickly noticed the situation was more than just one student sick.
