It is a real loss in many regards, but nobody was hurt.

Israel`s Army Obstructs Palestinian Firefighters

Israel's blockage of fire and rescue crews increased the amount of fire damage at Jenin.

(JENIN, West Bank) - Palestinian firefighter Palestinian sources reported Thursday that after several storehouses for households and sponge products caught on fire, the Israeli army obstructed Palestinian firefighters and rescue teams from reaching the area; an issue that increased the damage and losses.

The storehouses that belong to merchants Omar Fathi Amour and Khaled Al Nabulsy, are located in Barta’a village surrounded by the Annexation Wall near the northern West Bank city of Jenin.

Pudding River Crash Claims Lives of Two Young Men

The two who died are 21-year old Luke Christopher Jackson of Forrest Grove, and 20-year old Tyler Ray Libel of Woodburn.

Biker Club Members Keep Salem Home From Going Up in Smoke

Bikers alert the family and battle flames until firefighters arrived

(SALEM, Ore.) - Fire in Salem, Oregon 5 March 2010 Local motorcyclists from the Free Soul and Gypsy Joker motorcycle clubs gathering for pizza in Salem Friday night, didn't know that they would end up saving a family from a house fire.

And they definitely didn't expect to be the ones who would actually man the fire hose and evacuate the family. Even with small explosions taking place, these biker firefighters held their ground.

Two Men Face Arson Charges in Fairview Fire

Police say the arrests stem from a tip from a member of the public.

(SALEM, Ore.) - 20-year old Wesley Kirk and 20-year old Robert Riggi, both of Keizer, were arrested without incident, and charged with second-degree Arson in the January 27, 2010 fire. Salem Police detectives arrested two men today in conjunction with the January 27th three alarm fire that destroyed Pierce Cottage at Fairview, the closed state institute in South Salem.

Salem Police Lt. Steve Birr, says 20-year old Wesley Kirk and 20-year old Robert Riggi, both of Keizer, were arrested without incident, and charged with second-degree Arson.

Driver Rescued From Car Caught in Trees, Over Steep Embankment

A Mad World...Fairview Training Center Up in Flames

The historic building's demise brings to light the evolution and consequences of aged mental health misnomers.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Fairview burning Fairview, the State Institution for the Feeble-Minded, was established by the Oregon Legislative Assembly in 1907. It opened just outside Salem one year later with 39 residents that were transferred from the Oregon State Hospital.

Built on a 670 acre plot, Fairview was specifically charged with "the care and training of such feeble-minded, idiotic, epileptic, and defective persons as have been or may hereafter be committed to its custody."

Man Dies After Setting Himself on Fire

Portland Firefighters respond to reports of a human being who lit himself on fire.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Death investigation Firefighters in Portland responded to reports that a man had set himself on fire this morning just after 11:00 a.m. Lt.Damon Simmons with Portland Fire & Rescue, says this incident occurred on the NE corner of 12th and Yamhill.

"On arrival firefighters found an adult male who was not on fire but had serious burn injuries. Reports indicate that the man was put out by two Portland Police Officers and bystanders."

Fire Rages at Old Fairview Training Center in Salem

This fire will destroy one of the facility's expansive multi level wooden buildings that have sat essentially abandoned but guarded over the last several years.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Firefighters are on the scene of a major 3-alarm commercial fire in a Salem commercial building on Strong Road. The fire at the Fairview Training Center has consumed a multi level wood building that was built in the early 1900's.

The fire's plume of dark smoke was visible miles from the location in South Salem. The Fairview Training Center was built just after the turn of the century and has been closed in recent decades since federal funding for mental health programs went away.

Stronger Storms Bear Down on California, Southwest

Twenty-foot waves will also batter the California coast, leading to over-wash flooding, property damage and severe beach erosion.

(LOS ANGELES) - Waves Pound Asilomar Beach, Calif As the magnitude of storms increases from the Pacific Ocean, the risk to lives and property will escalate into Friday over California and neighboring states. Not counting the latest storm bashing the Southwest Wednesday, one to two additional storms will slam ashore through Friday evening.

The storms will continue to pack high winds, flooding rain, feet of snow in the higher elevations, massive waves and severe thunderstorms over the region during the period.
