The US is #1 in the world in opioid use. Disturbing and true!
(MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.) -
The FDA advisory committee strikes again and recommended approval of Vantrela ER (Teva Pharmaceuticals), a new hydrocodone bitartrate extended-release tablet with abuse-deterrent capabilities.
As the U.S. is fighting a devastating epidemic of prescription opioid/heroin addictions and deaths, the FDA approves yet another opioid. Maybe someone should ask the FDA "how many opioids does it take to devastate every state in the country?"
Here is an excerpt from a recent FDA News Release (complete release shown at end of article).
(MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.) -
Abbott Laboratories promoted OxyContin, or "hillbilly heroin" to anesthesiologists, surgeons, emergency physicians and pain management teams in hospitals and surgery centers throughout the country beginning in 1996 -- while Purdue Pharma marketed OxyContin to all other physicians.
Until now, buprenorphine for the treatment of opioid dependence was only approved as a pill...
This is an unprecedented threat...from a "Schedule II" drug.
(WASHINGTON D.C.) -
The DEA released a Roll Call video to all law enforcement nationwide about the dangers of improperly handling fentanyl and its deadly consequences.
Acting Deputy Administrator Jack Riley says, "It is 40 to 50 times stronger than street-level heroin. A very small amount ingested, or absorbed through your skin, can kill you."
"It's a public health epidemic, but it's completely man made." ~Dr. Sanjay Gupta
(MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.) -
This past week CNN broadcast an Anderson Cooper interview on the prescription opioid/heroin epidemic at a Town Hall Meeting.
CNN has been accused by the U.S. Pain Foundation, a lobbying group for pharma in catering to the needs of chronic pain patients in their use of long term opioids, at stigmatizing the pain patients.
Salem Police Conclude Major Drug Investigation
(SALEM, Ore.) -
A nearly two month long drug investigation had a turning point Tuesday evening with the arrest of seven individuals and the service of seven search warrants.
The Salem Police Department seized over ten pounds of heroin, over 14 pounds of methamphetamine, and in excess of two pounds of cocaine. In addition, over $466,000 and six vehicles were seized.
Our kids are dying! How could the FDA approve Zohydro ER when the high probability of death exists?
(MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.) -
One of Dr. Robert Rappaport’s biggest "contributions" to the American people before the FDA announced his retirement was approval of an opioid called Zohydro ER.
Zohydro ER was the first hydrocodone-only opioid in doses of 5 to 10 times more heroin-like narcotic than Vicodin. The FDA disregarded their own Advisory Committee who voted 11-2 not to approve the opioid because of the Committee’s concerns about the potential impact on public health.
Addictions and deaths expected to continue increasing in the coming years.
(MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.) -
In the fourteen years since I began exposing the criminal activity of the FDA, pharma, pain foundations and physicians funded by pharma, U.S. Senators profiting from pharma, as well as pill mill doctors, I have become more and more frustrated.
A few weeks ago, I received a message telling me in no uncertain terms to "back off" and stick to "advocacy".
