National Center for Disaster Fraud to Coordinate Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill Fraud Complaints

Beware of individuals posing as government officials who require a processing fee to provide government services.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Oil spill The Federal Bureau of Investigation announced today that an existing fraud tip line is now accepting information from the public about suspected fraud associated with the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

Tips should be reported to the National Center for Disaster Fraud, (866) 720-5721. The line is staffed by a live operator 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

It is estimated that about 25 per cent of the particles in the ash resulting from the eruption of the Eyjafjalla volcano on 14 April are less than 10 microns in size – considered more dangerous because they can penetrate deeper into the lungs.
