FBI Seeking Information to Identify Victims in International Sextortion Case

Online predator Lucas Michael Chansler was sentenced to 105 years in federal prison for engaging in an extortion scheme to produce child pornography.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Chansler child porn This article is part of a national effort to educate the public, particularly parents, about the issue of "sextortion" as well as to identify other potential victims of Lucas Michael Chansler.

As of now, the FBI has not identified any of Chansler's victims as having come from Oregon, but approximately 240 victims remain unidentified.

Death Investigation of Inmate From Baker Jail County Reveals Drug O.D.

The inmate was pronounced deceased by medical staff at 6:32 p.m.

(BAKER CITY, Ore.) - Baker City, Oregon Saturday afternoon, 28-year old Joshua Pantle, of Baker City was taken to the Baker County Jail after being arrested for Criminal Trespass In the Second Degree. He was placed in a holding cell pending the booking process.

Pantle showed signs of medical distress, and an ambulance arrived at the jail at 5:49. The ambulance carrying the patient arrived at Saint Alphonsus Medical Center at 6:07 p.m., where he was pronounced deceased.

Charges Dropped Against South Salem High School Teacher

The Marion County District Attorney's Office decided to take no action "at this time".

(SALEM, Ore.) - SSHS Saxons Students and teachers are relieved this afternoon after charges were dropped against a South Salem High School science teacher.

The teacher, Sam Dufner, is a well known staff member at the school. Students were supposedly "burned" by a Tesla coil during class last week.
"Dufner's students used a Tesla coil during class last Thursday. Toward the end of one period, Dufner noted that it could also be used to mark the skin," said Lt. Birr.

Salem Police Volunteers to Patrol Downtown Parking Areas

Over 60 percent of theft cases involved cars that had been left unlocked.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem Police The Salem Police Department recently launched a new crime prevention effort aimed at reducing the number of vehicle break-ins and other property crimes occurring at downtown parking locations.

To help reduce the opportunities for vehicle break-ins to occur, teams of volunteers will be patrolling the various downtown parking locations to create a presence, and take the opportunity to speak with shoppers about the importance of never leaving valuables left in plain sight.

South Salem High School Science Teacher Arrested for Classroom Experiment

The arrest was as much a shock to students as to the teacher.

(SALEM, Ore.) - South Salem High School A teacher from South Salem High School was arrested at the school Tuesday afternoon.

Sam Dufner is a science teacher, he was arrested on two counts of first degree criminal mistreatment involving students, according to Lt. Steve Birr of Salem Police.

One Man Injured in Shooting at Cinco de Mayo Festival in Downtown Portland

It does not appear that the shooting is related to the event.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - police line The 19-year-old male victim was involved in a dispute with the suspect before the shooting, which occurred along the seawall, just North of the Morrison Bridge.

Investigators have now identified a 20-year-old male detained at the Rose Quarter Transit Station as the suspect in the shooting. He was arrested and transported away from the scene as the investigation continues.

SWAT Stand-off with Suspect in Drive-by Shooting Ends in Arrest

OSP troopers are continuing the investigation of a drive-by shooting in Northern Klamath County

(LA PINE, Ore.) - police lights Information from on-scene commanders indicates that just before 2:00 A.M., Sunday morning, 9-1-1 call centers received a report of shots being fired at or into a residence, south of La Pine. Troopers learned the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Gary Davis, of La Pine, had threatened a man at that location previously.

Shortly before 7:00 A.M., troopers tracked Davis to a residence in La Pine where he was staying with his girlfriend.

Confessed Murderer Joshua Cavett Sentencing Monday

Multnomah DA Agrees to a Plea of a Minimum 28 Years

(SALEM, Ore.) - Joshua Cavett Admitted murderer Josh Cavett will be granted a plea deal next week for the shooting death of his estranged wife, 27-year old Jessie Doyle, in the presence of her two young daughters.

Chris Mascal, the Multnomah Deputy District Attorney said they are 99.9% sure that on Monday, the man who has been in custody since the night of the killing will Change his Plea. Cavett will plead Guilty to Murder and receive 28 years in prison, and will not be eligible for parole before his time is served.

Linfield College Student Stabbing Death and Police Shooting Investigation Underway

Police Dispatch recordings have been released (below).

(McMINNVILLE, Ore.) - Parker Archie Moore On Saturday, November 15, 2014, McMinnville Police officers responded to the report of a stabbing at the 7-11 located at 901 SE Baker Street. The stabbing victim was identified as 20-year old Parker Archie Moore, a Linfield Student from Woodinville, WA.

Shortly after arriving, officers were confronted by the suspect of the stabbing and he was shot and killed by the officers.
