Oregon Poultry Industry Announces Annual Youth Contest

The entry fee for the contest is $10.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Oregon State Univerisity The Oregon Fryer Commission's ninth annual Youth Pen of Fryers Contest will be held on Saturday, June 9th, at the Polk County Fairgrounds in Rickreall.

Oregon youth under 20 years of age (as of June 9th) are eligible to participate in the statewide competition.

Contestants will be required to pick up their 15 Cornish cross chicks on April 21st, at the OSU campus in Corvallis.

Scam Targets Oregon Veterans in Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Facilities

There have been some near misses, but so far there have been no reports of anyone falling victim to the scam in Oregon.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - American flag The U.S. Department of Veterans’ Affairs Regional Office in Portland, the Benton County Board of Commissioners and the Benton County Veterans Service Office urge veterans, their spouses, or their families to beware of unauthorized franchises or individuals offering representation for benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The current scam targeting Veterans’ is being run by Veterans Salute based in Florida. The company has been contacting nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and adult day-cares looking for veterans who maybe eligible for VA pension benefits.

Corvallis Police Seeking Robbery Suspect

The suspect is described as a white male about 5' 7, 180 pounds with a belly, short brown hair with a full short brown beard, fuller face with light to medium skin tone.

(CORVALLIS) - Robbery investigation Corvallis police are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect who robbed the downtown Dari Mart Saturday night.

Police say a lone male suspect walked into the store at about 10:10 PM and demanded money.

The suspect had his hands in his pocket, and the clerk believed he may have a weapon although one was not seen.

Teen Summit 2007 will feature workshops on healthy relationships, college planning,sports careers, self defense, yoga and much more
