Corvallis High Student Diagnosed With Meningococcal Disease

Meningococcal is an uncommon disease caused by bacteria present in the throat or nasal passages of about 10 percent of the general population.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - meningococcal disease A Corvallis High School student is being treated at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center for diagnosed meningococcal disease.

The Benton County Health Department is working with medical providers, Corvallis School District and family members to identify anyone who may have had enough close exposure to require preventive antibiotic treatment.

Marijuana Policy Expert to Give McCall Lecture at OSU

The event begins at 7 p.m. in the Construction and Engineering Hall in the LaSells Stewart Center, 875 S.W. 26th St. The lecture is free and open to the public. It is presented by the OSU College of Liberal Arts and the School of Public Policy.

(CORVALLIS) - Mason Tvert Mason Tvert, communications director for the Marijuana Policy Project – and a leader of the campaign to legalize marijuana in Colorado – will deliver the annual Gov. Tom McCall Memorial Lecture at Oregon State University on Tuesday, May 13.

In his lecture, “The Road to Legal Marijuana in America,” Tvert will share insights on the past, present and future of marijuana policy in the United States.

Death Investigation - Man Dies After Jump From Building on Oregon State University Campus

"The death appears to not be suspicious and was the result of an intentional act," OSP Lieutenant Steve Mitchell stated in a news release.

(CORVALLIS, OR) - Death investigation Oregon State Police (OSP) are continuing the investigation into the death of an adult male found early Thursday morning on the Oregon State University (OSU) campus after he fell from a building located on the south side of the campus.

The initial investigation indicates the man was a student.

Home Invasion Robbery Corvallis Police Seek Three Suspects

The victim was assaulted by one of the suspects prior to them leaving.

(CORVALLIS OR) - Police line During the subsequent investigation, officers learned three males, two of which were armed with handguns, entered the victim's residence and demanded money.

The victim complied with their demands and gave the suspects an undisclosed amount of money.

Second Attack Prompts Warnings by Corvallis Police and Oregon State University

Students and members of the general public are urged to use caution.

(CORVALLIS) - Suspect in attacks near OSU Law enforcement officials in Corvallis and at Oregon State University are urging students and local residents to use caution, especially at night, after a woman was assaulted and attacked Saturday (Jan. 26) off campus.

It was the second assault in the area in the last 11 days and police say the incidents were similar, as were the descriptions of the suspect.

Benton County Deputy Sheriffs and Salem Police Officers Involved in Shooting

The gunfire exchange happened NW Springhill Dr. and NW Independence Highway.

(INDEPENDENCE, OR) - Scene of shooting involving police Benton County, Oregon 12 Aug 2012 One Benton County Deputy and one Salem Police Officer were struck by gunfire and sustained serious injuries early Sunday morning. Both were transported to area hospitals for treatment.

The suspect was also struck by gunfire. He was flown via air ambulance to a Willamette Valley hospital. His status is not known.
