Oregon Weather: Heavy Rain and Gusty Winds Expected

Combination of heavy rain and strong winds may make travel difficult.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - weather alert The strongest storm so far this season appears likely to impact southwest Washington and northwest Oregon late Monday into Tuesday, bringing heavy rain and gusty winds to the region.

Strong south winds are expected to develop along the coast Monday, then spread inland Monday night and Tuesday. Winds strong enough to down trees and power lines are expected along the coast and in higher elevations of the Coast Range.

Huge Surf on Oregon Central Coast Proves Fatal

The High Surf Advisory is in effect until 3:00 p.m. Friday.

(LINCOLN COUNTY, Ore.) - high surf Oregon Today at about 11:20 a.m. the Oregon State Police responded to Depoe Bay for a report of a male that had been swept off the rocks near the sea wall in Depoe Bay.

Witnesses reported the male went over the sea wall to look at the ocean and was then swept off the rocks.

Urgent Weather Message for Western Oregon and Coastal Waters

Batten down the hatches! A late spring storm is kicking up.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - weather An unusually strong frontal system for mid-June will move through northwest Oregon and southwest Washington on Thursday, producing strong winds across the area.

High winds along the coast are expected to gust between 40 and 50 mph, with the strongest gusts along the beaches and headlands. Over the higher terrain of the coastal mountains and the Cascades, winds could gust up to around 45 mph. This system will bring south gales from the south coast northward, and hazardous seas bringing small craft advisory level seas over most of the area. The hazardous conditions will persist into Friday morning.

14-Year Old Girl Killed By Rolling Log at Oregon Coast

With great will, witnesses were able to remove her from under the log.

(BANDON, Ore.) - beach safety Last Saturday, about 4:00 p.m., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to South Jetty Park Beach in Bandon, where a log had rolled on top of a 14-year old girl. Upon emergency crews arriving on scene, they discovered the girl that had sustained life threatening injuries.

Preliminary information indicates that a 14-year-old Aurora Genai Sheffel from Eugene was playing on a log, in the heavy receding tide, when the log rolled on top of her.

Katy Roe is a well-known local girl. Where is she?

(DEPOE BAY, Ore.) - Katy Roe Katy Roe has been missing over a week. 22-year old Katharine "Katy" Olivia Roe disappeared early on Sunday April 17, 2016 from Depoe Bay, OR. She was last seen leaving the Wing Wa Restaurant, a downtown bar, at 2:00 am.

Katy is 4’9″ tall, 90 pounds with long brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing black pants and a white long-sleeve shirt. She was alone, headed for the mile-long walk to her home in Southpoint.

ODFW Hosts Family Fishing Event March 28 at Devil`s Lake

Families get to learn how to fish together!

(NEWPORT, Ore.) - The Regatta Park Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is hosting a Family Fishing Event Saturday, March 28 at Devils Lake in Lincoln City.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Regatta Park. ODFW will stock the lake with 6,500 rainbow trout, including 2,000 fish that will be released in a large net pen reserved for youths.

Hazard Tree Removal to Cause Delays on Hwy 18 in Van Duzer State Scenic Corridor

This effects milepost 8.5 to milepost 19, Grand Ronde to the coast.

(GRAND RONDE, Ore.) - VanDuzer corridor Travelers may experience delays on a 10-mile stretch of Highway 18 in the H.B. Van Duzer State Scenic Corridor while crews remove unhealthy trees. ODOT will be working under an agreement with Oregon Parks and Recreation Department on the three-day project, set for Feb. 24-26, weather permitting.

The tree removal will occur during daylight hours, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

(NEHALEM BAY, Ore.) - glowing phytoplankton Angelina Martin of Portland acquired some extremely rare video of a fantastic phenomenon on the Oregon coast that virtually no one knows about. She recently caught the glowing phytoplankton – which is downright impossible to photograph. But she caught it on video.

It’s also a sign you may find what is known as “glowing sand” along the coast right now – an absolutely stunning sight, but too faint to be photographed when on the sand. At least, here in Oregon.
