Oregon National Guard Fourth of July Flyovers‏

All passes will be approximately 1,000 feet above ground level and 350 knots airspeed.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - 173d Fighter Wing F-15 The Oregon Air National Guard will conduct Independence Day flyovers for various ceremonies at locations throughout Oregon, Southwest Washington, and Northern California.

Two F-15 Eagle fighter jets from the 142nd Fighter Wing in Portland and two F-15 Eagle fighters home-based out of 173rd Fighter Wing at Kingsley Field are scheduled to fly over community events throughout Oregon, Southwest Washington and Northern California at several times and locations.

President Obama Signs Bill Awarding Congressional Gold Medal to Women Airforce Service Pilots (PHOTOS)

First women to fly American military aircraft served courageously, blazed trails during WWII.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - President Obama today signed into law S. 614, a bill to award a Congressional Gold Medal to the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP). WASP was established during World War II with the primary mission of flying non-combat military missions in the United States thus freeing their male counterparts for combat missions.

Its pilots were the first women ever to fly American military aircraft and flew almost every type of aircraft operated by the United States Army Air Force during World War II on a wide range of missions.

Oregon Guard and U.S. Navy to Conduct Air Defense Exercise

Officials say there will be no live munitions involved in the exercise.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon National Guard Logo Oregon National Guard soldiers and airmen, along with the U.S. Navy will participate in a U.S. Northern Command air defense exercise near Camp Rilea, Ore. in June. Exercise Amalgam Dart '09 will take place at Camp Rilea and nearby Warrenton, Ore June 18-20. It is one of several exercises under the Ardent Sentry '09 exercise series.

Pilot Uninjured in Kelso, Washington Ultralight Crash

Plane flipped while landing at river's edge.

(KELSO, Wash.) - An ultralight crashed yesterday in Kelso at about 9:00 a.m. according to officials there.

Charlie Rosenzweig, Chief Criminal Deputy with the Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office, says the plane lost power while flying above the Cowlitz River about 1 mile north of Kelso, Washigton. "The pilot was able to guide the plane to the edge of the river near a sandbar but the plane flipped as it landed at the river's edge."

Air France Plane Missing

The plane's crew reported an electric failure and loss of cabin pressure and was lost in a region of the world known for intense tropical storms and lightning.

(PARIS) - Air France flight 447 is missing between Brazil and France. An Air France plane has disappeared while flying from Rio de Janeiro to Paris. There were 228 people aboard the plane included several children.

Air France says they express their deepest sympathy to the relatives and friends of the passengers and crew who were on board AF flight 447 on 31 May 2009, which disappeared somewhere between Rio de Janeiro and Paris-Charles de Gaulle.

A number of Shahed 285s -- which have successfully passed numerous test-flights -- were handed to the IRGC Air Force on Sunday.

(TEHRAN Press TV) - Iranian Shahed 285 military helicopter The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC)'s latest homemade attack helicopter, the Shahed (Witness) 285, has joined Iran's aerial fleet.

The Shahed 285 was unveiled Sunday on the anniversary of the 1982 liberation of the Iranian city Khoramshahr -- which was occupied by Iraqi forces during the 1980-88 war.

(CALGARY, Alberta) - Royal Canadian Mounted Police looming above Mr. Dziekanski On October 14, 2007, 40 year-old Robert Dziekański arrived at Vancouver International airport from Poland after a flight of nearly 24 hours.

He was emigrating to Canada to live with his mother in Kamloops, B.C. The plan she offered was for them to meet by the baggage carousel. What she didn’t realize was that the carousel was in a secure area to which she had no access. This, otherwise insignificant, error cost Dziekański his life.

No Injuries in Plane Crash Near Gales Creek (PHOTOS)

The plane was completing a flight from Moscow Idaho and attempted to land on a private gravel runway when the pilot attempted to avoid a vehicle parked near the landing strip.

Oregon Civil Air Patrol Initiates Response to Tsunami Drill

The CAP has performed similar missions around the Mt. Hood area, indicating key points for avalanches, debris flows and other geologic areas of concern.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Oregon CAP Cessna 182 search aircraft Oregon coastal communities are taking part in a simulated tsunami beginning Friday, and the Oregon Civil Air Patrol will be a participant in this unique exercise.

The statewide disaster drill is called Cascade Peril 09. Tom Traver with the Oregon CAP says it deals not only with the tsunami, but with the underlying 9.0 Megaquake that caused it.
