Truck Driver Arrested for Sleeping at the Wheel

Police say that after falling asleep, the semi-truck driver crashed near construction workers on Interstate 5

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Crashed semi on Oregon freeway Oregon State Police troopers arrested a commercial truck driver Thursday morning after he allegedly fell asleep driving southbound through an Interstate 5 construction work zone north of Brownsville and struck a concrete barrier near construction workers who were working on the opposite side of the barrier. No one was injured.

OSP Troopers responded to a crash involving a commercial truck pulling a flatbed trailer southbound Interstate 5 near milepost 221 at 9:30 AM.

They say the preliminary investigation indicates a 2005 Kenworth truck driven by 40-year old Steven M. Cook of Portland, was southbound in the Sodom Ditch bridge replacement work zone where nine construction workers were actively working on an adjacent bridge protected by a concrete barrier.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Salem-News.com The Albany, Oregon Veterans Day Parade drew more than 40,000 spectators and participants to this Willamette Valley city. The November 11th event marks the day World War One ended in 1918. Salem-News.com caught up with the last part of the parade and the video is published below.

In this record of the parade you will see everything from a float decked out with bamboo to signify Vietnam, to old cars, a Miatta club, marching bands and anti-war groups like Vietnam Veterans For Peace.

The event brought together all of these groups that represent and serve veterans, without political interference. The organizers allowed all to pay homage in their own way to the men and women who serve this nation in uniform.

Albany Prepares for Massive Veterans Day Parade

The largest Veterans Day event in the western U.S. takes place in historic Albany, Oregon.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Ninety years ago tomorrow, the war to end all wars ceased and the world was granted peace. November 11th 1918 marked the cessation of hostilities that claimed millions upon millions of French, British, German and Belgian soldiers.

Over 50,000 Americans also died in World War One as well as soldiers from many other nations. November 11th is celebrated all around the world as Armistice Day or Remembrance Day.

The largest Veterans Day observance west of the Mississippi River, is the Albany Veteran's Day Parade in Oregon. Upwards of 40,000 people will attend the event featuring approximately 200 entries.

Detectives have made arrests over thefts of wire from Consumer Power, Pacific Power and Light and their substations, as well as from several local area farmers’ irrigation wiring systems in Linn County. Sheriff Tim Mueller says one of the thefts resulted in a power outage in the Lebanon and Sweet Home area.

Men Arrested in Drive By Shooting Allegedly Firing at Pursuing Cars

Police say a suspect in the back of a pickup fired approximately 10 rounds at the two vehicles chasing them.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Dylan Thomas Debutts and Bradley John Zurfluh each face six counts of Attempted Murder in Linn County, Oregon Rounds from at least one gun blazed at two pursuing vehicles following a drive by shooting in Albany that led to two men being arrested on Attempted Murder and several other charges, police there say.

Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller, says deputies are investigating an attempted murder that occurred in Albany that resulted in a car chase by the intended victims that ended in the Oakville area west of Tangent.

OSP Investigates Deceased Man in Car at Santiam Rest Stop

The man is identified as 40-year old Brian Leslie Maxwell of Albany.

(WILSONVILLE, Ore.) - Oregon State Police and Marion County Medical Examiner are continuing the investigation into the death of a man found Wednesday morning in a car at the east end of the northbound Santiam Rest Area off Interstate 5.

There are no signs of violence or foul play, according to State Police. It began with a report that a citizen saw a possible deceased man in a car at the Santiam Rest Area.

62-Year Old Woman in Albany Located

Genny Chapman was missing, she was located Tuesday, April 6th, 2008.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - 62-year old Genny Chapman is missing in Albany, Oregon A 62-year-old woman who walked away from the Golden Wings Adult Foster Home in the 900 block of SW 21st Avenue Sunday, has been located.

Albany Police were concerned because Genny Chapman suffers from dementia, has a history of walking away from her home, and has traveling great distances in the past.

Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested in Albany

Gabriel Martinez faces charges of Attempted Homicide, Burglary in the First Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Recklessly Endangering.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Albany Police officers responding to a report of a shooting Saturday night at 11:30 PM, found 27-year-old Abram Delano inside his apartment on SE 15th Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds. Abram Delano was transported to Samaritan Albany General Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

The investigation revealed that Abram Delano and the shooting suspect, identified as 29-year old Gabriel Martinez of Albany, knew one another.

Albany Man Goes Berzerk Police Say, After Break-Up With Girlfriend

Detectives seized numerous handguns and rifles from the suspects home.

(ALBANY, Ore. ) - James Culbertson On Monday, at approximately 2:25 PM, the Albany Police Department responded to the 700 block of SW College Park Drive on the report of a disturbance.

A caller reported that a male suspect was assaulting a female and dragging her down the street by her hair. Responding officers found the male suspect, identified as 47-year old Albany resident, James Culbertson, who was detained by a male friend of the female victim in a driveway in the 700 block of SW College Park Drive.
