National Congress Attacked Peaceful Gathering of Around 1,000 Sudanese Lawyers

The attack on the lawyers marks a full-scale lawlessness not in the marginalized areas but in the capital, Khartoum, and against the guard of law, the lawyers.

(KHARTOUM) - Riot police on standby in streets of Khartoum Photo: Voice of America Today, August 1st, the police and security of the National Congress some hours ago attacked a peaceful gathering of around 1,000 Sudanese lawyers who gathered in the lawyers’ club in Khartoum for a Ramadan break fast and in order for them to look into the human rights situation in the country.

They were beaten and some of them arrested from inside the lawyers’ club premises in Khartoum.

Tom Prichard who works with Sunrise Sudan. He is a close friend and associate of Rudwan; the other person I asked questions of is Rudwan's wife, Nancy Dawod, who is carrying his child.

Oregon Aid Worker Faces Death Penalty in Sudan

Another false charge of 'terrorism' is being used by a government to persecute an innocent demonstrator.

(SALEM) - Rudwan Dawod Fox News brings to light the story of an Oregon man who is facing the death penalty in Sudan for his political activism. Rudwan Dawod's 'crime' was his goal of rebuilding a Catholic cathedral that was burned to the ground by Sudanese forces.

Now, he is held in Khartoum, fighting for his very life, and the death penalty on 'terrorism' charges could come as soon as today.
