To make a very long story short. American negotiators have been working on his release for the past few years and have been 'blocked' twice by the Karzai government.

(SALEM) - After 2+1/2 long years, the families of 22 SEAL TEAM members, 8 Army Special Ops and National Guard soldiers and 1 loyal dog, finally got the congressional hearing they had been pleading for.

Their son’s Chinook helicopter was shot down in the Tangi Valley in Afghanistan under very suspicious circumstances in Aug 2011. It was the biggest one time loss ever in the history of SEAL Special Operations, and during the entire Middle East war on terror.

(KABUL TOLO News) - Three of the 11 presidential candidates participated in the third televised TOLOnews debate on Tuesday night, exchanging views on foreign policy ahead of the April vote.

Kerry, Rasmussen Expect Afghan Security Pact After Karzai Leaves

The election is set for April 5.

(WASHINGTON, DC Radio Free Europe/Rad) - John Kerry says the next president of Afghanistan will sign the Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) that will provide for U.S. soldiers to remain in the country after this year.

Kerry said in Washington that if it wasn't for Afghan President Hamid Karzai, "we would be on a different track today."

Karzai Says U.S. Must Respect Kabul`s Sovereignty

Observers say the Afghan government hopes that the releases can help revive peace talks with the Taliban, who were ousted from power in 2001.

(KABUL Radio Free Europe/Radio Libert) - Afghan President Hamid Karzai says the release of prisoners by Afghan authorities considered by the United States to pose a security threat was "of no concern" to Washington.

Earlier on February 13, the Afghan government released 65 detainees, who the U.S. military had said should be tried in Afghan courts.
