Soldiers Killed in Balad, Iraq

The soldiers were assigned to the 5th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

(BALAD, Iraq) - Salem-News.com The Department of Defense announced today the death of three soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

They died February 23rd in Balad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked their unit using small arms fire.

Amber Alert Canceled for Girl in Indiana

The Indiana State Police canceled the Amber Alert after the girl was found on Sunday night. There is no further information available at this time.

(TERRE HAUTE, Indiana) - The missing girl and suspect The Indiana State Police issued an Amber Alert on Sunday afternoon after a small girl was reportedly abducted in Vigo, Indiana, approximately 12 miles south of Terre Haute.

Police say the girl has been located.

(TROY, Mich.) - Champion Enterprises home under construction in Silverton, Oregon Champion Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE:CHB), a leader in factory-built construction, has announced that it will close its manufacturing facility in Silverton, Oregon, and idle the last of four plants at its complex in LaGrange, Indiana, transferring the LaGrange production to the Company's nearby facilities in Topeka, Indiana.

As a result of the closures, the Company expects to incur pretax cash restructuring charges of approximately $2.1 million in the first quarter ending March 29th 2008.

A young woman dubbed "The New Betty Grable" is asking for the public's support in her efforts to brighten the days of those who serve.

(WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana) - pin up girl in front of plane Veterans around the country, active duty military, recovering Veterans, and civilians worldwide have become fans of a special project called "Pin-Ups For Vets".

An attractive brunette from Southern California, Gina Elise, has created a website PinUpsforVets.com with a 1940's theme in music and content. She started the project to honor her grandfather, Louis, who served in the United States Army for four years during World War II and to help with the effort in aiding military service veterans in hospitals and active duty soldiers overseas.
