New urgency in the effort to Find Mark

Despite Mark’s dire medical condition, the doctor did tell Julie that Mark could still be getting around: talking, walking, moving, trying desperately to get where he thinks he is supposed to be.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Mark Bosworth’s family puts out an urgent plea after meeting with his oncologist. "We have learned that my dad's condition will likely deteriorate quicker than we thought,” said Kelly Bosworth, one of Mark’s daughters. “We need to find him in the next few days.” (See Find Mark Facebook page for full statement.)

Julie, Mark’s wife, met with his doctor Wednesday evening. After discussing Mark’s behavior and incidents that occurred in the weeks and days leading up to his disappearance, the doctor told Julie he is all but certain the cancer has moved to Mark’s brain. It is affecting the frontal lobe: the seat of memory, reasoning and judgment.

While this is something that has been feared for days now, the doctor told Julie yesterday that the progression of Mark’s symptoms indicates growing pressure on his brain. If not treated soon, that pressure will reach his brain stem and his vital organs will begin shutting down. He said the window to find Mark, and get him help, is closing fast.

“PLEASE redouble your efforts today to look for him, and to spread his photo and his story to others,” begs Julie. “One of you will see Mark and bring him home to his daughters Kelly and Claire and to me so we can put our arms around him and care for him.” (Go to www.FindMark.org for Julie’s full statement.)

Family and friends will be reorganizing their efforts to maximize outreach, hoping that one of the people they call, talk with in person or exchange comments with on Facebook will be the one who brings Mark home.

A $10,000 reward is offered for information that leads to finding Mark. Mark went missing on the night of September 16 in Riddle, Oregon while volunteering with Cycle Oregon. He had been disoriented in the weeks before, and the night of, his disappearance. Mark has survived two previous battles with cancer.

Anyone who sees Mark needs to call 911 immediately. Anyone with a possible previous siting of Mark is asked to call the tip line: 541-957-2099.
