Helicopter Crashes at Hillsboro Airport

At this time the cause of the crash is unknown

(Hillsboro, Ore.) - At 6:03 Hillsboro Fire and Rescue was dispatched by Washington County 9-1-1 to the Hillsboro Airport with the report of a helicopter down.

Upon arrival the crew of Engine 5 found a helicopter on the ground near runway 30. The pilot, who was the only occupant of the helicopter, had exited the downed aircraft before the engine arrived.

After medical assessment by Hillsboro Fire and Metro West Ambulance personnel the pilot was transported by Metro West to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The helicopter involved in the incident is a Robinson R-22 owned by Hillsboro Aviation. The debris from the incident was cleared immediately and caused no disruption to Hillsboro Airport operations.

At this time the cause of the crash is unknown. An investigation will be conducted by the Federal Aviation Administration.
