Portland Area Guard Soldiers to Mobilize for Federal Deployment

The mobilization ceremony is Saturday, Sept 28th, beginning at 10 am.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The Oregon Army National Guard is scheduled to hold a mobilization ceremony for Soldiers from both 2nd Battalion, 218th Field Artillery (Forest Grove), and Company A, 141st Brigade Support Battalion (Clackamas) as they prepare to depart to Qatar.

Known as Task Force Arrow, the group of more than 450 Soldiers is one of several units that the Oregon Army National Guard’s 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team is scheduled to deploy this fall and winter.

In all, the 41st is scheduled to deploy more than 1,400 service members to five different countries: Djibouti, Jordan, Kosovo, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

41st IBCT Commander Col. Eric Riley spoke at the 2nd Battalion 162 Infantry Family Farewell Event for the Brigade’s Task Force Jordan element Sept. 3rd in Springfield, Ore. The task force will be in Jordan for a nine-month deployment helping train Jordanian military forces.

The public and media are welcome to attend the mobilization ceremony at the Oregon Convention Center, Exhibit Hall E, 777 NW Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Portland. The ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, September 28th, and will begin at 10:00 am.
