Road Construction Worker Killed in Beaverton (UPDATE)

Police say the victim was killed on the job by a dumptruck.

(BEAVERTON, Ore.) - Update: The person killed today in the road construction incident has been identified by police as 51 year old John Thomas Sparks.

Mr. Sparks was killed this afternoon, according to Beaverton Police. Detective Sergeant James Shumway, says officers were called to the road construction accident on SW 173rd near SW Walker Road in Beaverton at 3:47 p.m.

"Officers arrived to learn that a road construction worker was killed when one of the dump trucks involved in the repaving backed over him. The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene."

Shumway says family notifications are complete.

Beaverton Police are currently investigating.

Members from the Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) have responded to assist in the investigation.

Further information will be released as it becomes available.
