It is sad to say but once a person has died the funeral business can be really evil. Not that long ago people were laid out in the house and everyone was used to it. Now most of us are big babies that want to remove ourselves from death (kind of like watching the occupation of Iraq on T.V.). Service Corp International owns more funeral homes than you can imagine. It is the McDonalds of the funeral business. Even when it says, "Mom and Pop's Funeral Home" on the outside, chances are that it is owned by S.C.I. (no one wants you to know this). I believe in viewing the body briefly at home and then have a fast burial. Funeral homes have what is called a direct burial but they do not tell you this because they want to make money while you are not in your right mind. Cremation is also a great idea. When you are dead that is the end and what is done with the remains really makes very little difference. When the brain and heart dies, the person is gone forever. All you are looking at is a piece of decaying meat. Funerals are a personal decision as are weddings. You can go to the village justice or have a million dollar bash. In the end it has little to do with the big picture. As a matter of fact, I want all the money and gifts back from all of the weddings that I have gone to that have ended in divorce as I expected they would. If I invest in a partnership (a marriage) and it lays and egg, give me my money back or at least send an apology letter that states that do to circumstances beyond our control, Ted and Sally are getting a divorce. There are alot of games in all business and the funeral business is no exception. That is why I say, "Do it as fast and cheap as possible." This is not to be cruel but the reality is that the person is not the remains.
