Hemp Guru Jack Herer's Condition Critical But Stable

Jack Herer is the author of "The Emperor Wears No Clothes" the best-selling cult classic that ignited the Hemp Revolution worldwide.

(SALEM, Ore.) - As of this morning there was little change in his condition. He has not awakened, and is in stable but critical condition. On this, the seventh day since Jack Herer was struck down by a heart attack, he is still fighting for his life, but he's not fighting it alone.

His friends, family and followers number in the tens of thousands, and they're all holding strong that Jack will be back.

Jack has long been an advocate of the healing properties of the hemp plant. Last year, Jack told me that this miracle cure had changed his life. He showed me his legs, which had multiple small scars due to Diabetes. Hemp oil had healed his wounds.

The medicinal properties of hemp are not unknown, but in the United States, this discussion has been somewhat limited to "preaching to the choir", as the FDA has no interest in researching the plant.

Jack knows this all too well, and had delivered a passionate speech minutes before he fell ill, accentuating his belief in the power of the plant.

"We ask for every one to focus their energies toward spiritually connecting with Jack and telling him it's time to wake up," another friend said. "He's got a lot of things he's in the middle of, and we need him to wake up today, even for a brief moment, to show his loved ones that he's healing, and continuing to fight."

"If we all put our positive power toward this, of envisioning him well, it will happen."

Jack Herer is scheduled to go on a European tour with Rick Simpson, beginning in Prague, Czechoslovakia in November. Rick is from Nova Scotia, Canada, and alleges to be curing cancer with concentrated cannabis hemp oil (watch his video: "Run from the Cure"). Jack Herer did his research, used the oil himself, and gave it the thumbs up.

Last Saturday he told Dr. Leveque, "I haven't felt this good in years," and told his assistant Joy that he "felt like walking without help," another indicator that he was feeling well before his heart attack. He has been using Rick Simpson's oil for seventeen months.

Jack has looked forward to the world tour, as well as finishing the newest edition of "The Emperor", creating a hemp museum, and many other projects.

"We still need him here," says Seeva, another long time friend. "Please pray in unison with us, for Jack to wake up.

to all you supporters of jack im out here in connecticut i want you all to write to someone who can make a change in washington i dont know who that is but if you do write to them,tell them your sick of america forgetting about the veterans and the farmers who grew hemp for victory the us government used to love hemp and since 1938 they have loved chemicals all the way around. its all chemicals and money, no one has the right to deny a person from growing one of gods seeds yes i said god because you are still a fool if you do not believe in god,god is inside every one of us no matter what your religion or views. take it from me hemp will save not just america but the whole entire planet along with all other natural products chemials will have their day in the fire. people will die chaos will ensue but nature bats last my friends and the earth will be clean again from mans misery of selfish money laundering drug lords and oil bandits. A big "wake up" to jack ,get well soon ill pick up the fight as of today long time coming.... peace to all except the chemical manufacturers, to them i say: die already we have had enough of your cancer and disease we have had enough big brother ..........stupidity makes me so frustrated but never turning to violence, never.

There are a lot of people out here pulling for you, Jack -- hang in there. Thank you to the Salem News for keeping us posted. I check Jack's website 3 or 4 times a week for the interesting links he posts, and wondered why nothing had been posted for a week, came here and got the bad news... but now I know that I should be sending positive thought and prayers in Jack's direction. I met jack at this year Seattle Hemp fest where we had a booth. I told jack that we were getting our hemp production lic. from Montana dept of ag this month. He was very happy to hear that and introduced me to some great people. Jack all of us in Montana are praying for your speedy recovery and we will not rest until we have hemp growing in Montana. I am writing from Nashville TN to say that Jack Herer is the single most important activist in the history of the cannabis hemp movement. It was my good fortune to meet Jack in the early eighties, and he signed my copy of the "Emperor". The inscription read, "Share the hemp info with everyone you meet." That was the beginning of serious activism for me. He has been such an inspiration and I have learned more from Jack than anyone in my life. I am devastated to hear of his illness and send my blessings to Jack and Jeannie, Mark, Chuck, and all other associates of Jack who's names are unknown to me. Jack, please wake up! You have so much more to do and we need your voice.

We saw Jack tonight. His condition remains critical but stable. He remains in a coma.

We passed on everyone's loving thoughts, prayers, and positive messages to Jeannie and his kids.

On the same day that Jack gave his speech and fell from his heart attack I gave a speech of my own at the Free Mary Jane Festival in York County, Pa. I talked about how Jack Herer's book influenced and inspired me to write my own book, Hempstone Heritage. I talked about how Jack said wherever there were major hemp producing towns in America there are town named after hemp and he mentioned early in his book about Hempfield Twp. in Lancaster County, Pa. Based on this fact, I began my long journey of discover as I uncovered the details of our local hemp industry. All because of Jack. I talked about how it has now been 16 years since I first read Jack's book and how it is time for change, in fact long overdue. Little did I realize that on the same day I made that speech Jack was also making a speech and had a heart attack. Get better, Jack. I will continue to pray for you.

Dear Bonnie King Salem-News.com Thank you so very much for writing and posting your wonderfully kind and positive comments about Jack. Your efforts in displaying these truths are very special to many of us. Jack and I go back about 40 years to when he first started getting into the world of hemp. It has always been a joy to share and exchange visions with Jack. He very kindly accompanied me on our last tour, at this time in September, 3 years ago, through a great deal of Europe for approximately 3 weeks. We had a great time and Jack was so happy to be back on the hemp trail as were everyone who met with us while we were touring to promote each others books. We all thank you, from the bottom of our hearts for helping to bring Jack's message to the world. These messages are the culmination of so many other people's messages as well with regards to hemp and freedom, freedom to think for ourselves in a state of peacefulness. A state of peacefulness that once again, has many new tributaries in its continuance to survive and thrive, in the public eye, because of people like Jack and you.
