Police Shooting Near Oakridge

(OAKRIDGE, Ore.) - Oregon State Police say tonight, September 18, 2010 at approximately 9:30 p.m. an Oregon State Police trooper was involved in an officer-involved shooting with a male subject.

According to information from OSP's Gregg Hastings, the shooting happened in the area of Fish Hatchery Road and Salmon Creek Road just east of Oakridge.

"The trooper was not injured and medical care is being provided to the subject shot by the trooper," Hastings said.

There is no confirmation on the identity of the subject at this point, Hastings is responding to the scene to glean more information.

That is anticipated to be released Sunday following preliminary investigation and approval from the Lane County District Attorney's Office, Hastings advised.
