(OREGON CITY) - A man riding a motorcycle was killed in a crash that was witnessed by his wife, deputies said. Q Madp of IraqWarHeroes.org, says the rider was with the Patriot Guard and on his way to help honor an American killed fighting in the wars overseas.

The Patriot Guard Riders have been escorting military funerals for many years. Madp says the man will be missed. The rider's name is Fred Brehony.

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office spokesman Detective Jim Strovink said the motorcycle rider died at the scene after a collision with a car at the intersection of South Springwater and South Bakers Ferry roads in Oregon City at about 7:50 a.m. Friday.

The victim's wife was following in a separate vehicle and witnessed the crash, Strovink said.

Roads near the crash are closed, deputies said, and the investigation is ongoing.

Q Madp said, "I've known Fred a few years now. I got news on my way to the 2nd funeral I was attending today."
