(MADRID, Spain) - The Foundation Against Drug Addiction (FAD) has launched a new campaign to create social awareness about the dangers of alcohol. One of its slogans is: “What should we do with alcohol?” This campaign is aimed at the general public and its goal is to raise awareness to reflect about irresponsible alcohol consumption.

The FAD is prioritizing and concentrating on the youth. Alcohol is the protagonist of their nights out, and, it also facilitates drug consumption.

What should we do with alcohol? This question comes to show that society does not know what position to take when it comes to alcohol. Society is shocked at the alarming facts of irresponsible consumption amonst teenagers, yet we tend to forget that alcohol is part of our society, socialization, and parties.

Alcoholic drinks are much more dangerous than drugs are. According to the home survey on Alcohol and Drugs from the National Plan on Drugs, alcohol is the substance that is consumed most by a population between the ages of 15 and 64, with a consumption prevalence of 78.7%.

Data confirms that alcohol is present in 90% of collective drinking events. Furthermore, according to recent FAD investigations, sport and music artists are the number one icon that represent our society, followed by the family, friends, the media, cars and alcoholic drinks.

The survey showed that about 53.5% of young adults between the ages of 20 and 24 classify alcoholic drinks as very dangerous. On the other hand, 12.3% of those between 15 and 19 think alcohol is not dangerous.

The most consumed drugs continue being those with legal status, that is, tobacco and alcohol. One out of three people consumes alcohol every weekend, and 13.3% consume it daily.

The mass media will spread this ad campaign free of charge (www.quedebemoshacerconelalcohol.com).

According to a study conducted by Heidel University in Germany and Standford University in the U.S., alcoholism affects more women than men, since brain paralysis develops at a much more faster pace in young women.

Alcoholic drinks are the worst attack that our society suffers today. The consequences of this attack reach everyone that is part of it, especially those who hold the future of mankind, the youth. (Translated by Gianna A. Sanchez-Moretti).

Who cares. Stop trying to regulate society with nanny state correctness. Anything you take or do would be banned if some of these people had half a chance. We all drank underaged, and it will keep going that way. It's in are nature, and have been doing for a thousand years. Also let the adults decide if they want to drink or not, the same goes for smoking and drug taking, stop dictating what we should or should not do in are lives!. For anyone out there that will moan about costing the tax payer millions of dollars or pounds to cover medical costs because of this, should open up the blinds and look out a different window. Your hard earned tax money is being wasted on a lot more serious things than covering medical costs, I can assure you of that.

First of all, this author gives no solutions. Prohibit alcohol? Already been tried. How about a moral society that is not run by the eugencists bankers? This author should focus on WHY the kids drink alcohol. The bankster owned indoctrination system they call our education system, the lies of government, and television. Drugs, alcohol, etc. are not nearly as dangerous as the tv is. Wake up author.
