(SISTERS) - A North Plains-area man died Monday afternoon when he lost control of his motorcycle on Highway 20-W about twenty-five miles west of Sisters.

A 2002 Suzuki motorcycle operated by 29-year-old Kouman Ly, from North Plains, was negotiating a right hand curve on US Highway 20-W near milepost 75.5 when it lost control causing Ly to be ejected into the westbound lane.

Mr. Ly was struck by a westbound 1990 Toyota Camry driven by 58-year-old James Nylander, from Beaverton.

A cardiologist traveling through the area and OSP Senior Trooper Alan Santiago performed CPR on Kouman Ly for approximately 25 minutes before he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

He was wearing protective headgear.

Nylander and his right front passenger, 58-year-old Donna Nylander, also from Beaverton, were not injured in the crash.

Members of the Oregon State Police Bend Area Command Office, with assistance from the Linn County Sheriff's Office, are investigating the crash.

ODOT assisted with the heavy holiday traffic and US Highway 20-W was closed for approximately 20 minutes.

We went to Fresno's 2006 New Year when my husband thought he saw Kouman, I reminded him Kouman was gone. My husband and I both knew Kouman and we would meet every Fresno New Year. It's so sad we will never see him again. Kouman, we miss your happy face and gentle heart.

OMG! Somehow, I don't think this is the Kouman that I know, but then again, I know that he is a year older than me so I will have to believe it. Kouman, you will be truly missed but never forgotten. Thanks for all the talks way back then and thanks for understanding the way you did. It's the wonderful people we meet that God takes away from us. I know we only saw each other occasionaly, but they were good times. I will cherish those times in my heart forever. My condolences to the family. Take care.

It's always sad when we hear about accidents like this. Too often, we take life for granted and forget about how short a period of time we really have with one another. But through the memories of fallen ones, it teaches us to be stronger and more caring individuals. If we learn to do this, their deaths would not have been in vein. Love and let love.

How sad! I never knew him but it sounds like he has touched so many lives. Just by hearing my sister and brother-in-law talk about him I felt like I knew him already. This world has truly lost a wonderful brother, cousin, son, uncle, and friend!

Not once did I ever see a frown on Kouman's face. A big ol' smile was all that he wore. He had big dreams and lived large - such admiration. I was at the funeral today and indeed, he touched many lives. All were there to pay their respects. My condolences to the family once again... and may you rest in peace, Kouman. Mus zoo koj mog...

Hey Kouman, I dont quite know you, but I sure did get to meet you a couple of times. Gosh, to just imagine you gone. You were that one big fella sitting right beside me that one saturday. You remember? =] Seems not too long ago it was when I heard you talking about your great exploration you took on your bike. Although we didn't quite know each other, I cherish the memories I have of you. I see all these people commenting you, I see all these people crying, and what can I as one person do for you? To be honest, each time I think about you, my tears just erupt and I can't find the right things to say.. Kouman, you were a great person. Keep that in mind. My greatest love goes out to you.

He left us so tragically, but yet all i could remember is the smile upon his face. His warm sense of humor, and his loving friendship. All i remember is the good times,I just can't picture him gone! I feel as if it's a wicked dream, cause this reality is too much to bare. Much love to his friends and family, we know that he's in a better place and always in our hearts! Goodbye friend!

Kouman was an individual that was kind with a big heart. He was a cousin, but more like a younger bro to me. He was only a 1 month younger than I. I was in California at the time he was in a wreck and was notified that he has been in a motorcycle accident. I then called back an hour and was notified that he was deceased. I couldn't accept it. It felt like someone just stab me in the heart when I have heard that he was deceased. I'll be missing you Kouman your memories will be cherish. It's hard to believe that you are gone. Seems like it was just yesterday, but then one day we will be together again.

Kouman is, was truly a great person. He will be missed greatly by everyone that he came in contact with because that's how good of a person he was. He had so much to live for and has left behind. Its heartbreaking to believe that Kouman has truly gone. Where ever he is, Kouman is bound for greatness, if not now then later. We will miss Kouman dearly and will be remembered as the honest, kind and loving person he is.
