Rainier Man Arrested in Shaken Baby Investigation

The child has been released from the hospital and is the care of Department of Human Services.

(RAINIER, Ore.) - Oregon State Police say a Rainier, Oregon man's arrest Tuesday afternoon is related to an investigation in injuries to his 5-month old son.

The man was arrested on two counts of Assault in the First Degree and detectives believe the baby's injuries were the result of shaken baby syndrome.

The male baby was admitted August 26, 2009 to Doernbecher Children's Hospital with head injuries.

OSP detectives Jon Harrington and Patti Rhodes began the investigation in conjunction with the Columbia County District Attorney's Office.

A subsequent investigation led to the September 1st arrest of 27-year old Kenneth Joseph Judkins of Rainier, while he was at the Columbia County Courthouse on another legal-related matter.

Judkins was lodged in the Columbia County Jail.

The child has been released from the hospital and is the care of Department of Human Services.

An initial court appearance is to be set.
