Shooting in Keizer Leads to Several Arrests

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Keizer Police say one of their officers heard several gun shots in the area of 4900 Wolf Street North early Sunday morning just before 1:00 AM. While police were enroute, at least four citizens called 911 to report the gunfire, according to Captain Jeff Kuhns with Keizer Police.

"Citizen reports of the number of shots fired ranged from five to twenty. The first responding officer arrived in the area less than one minute from the original time of call. He reported observing several subjects running through yards as he arrived on scene."

Kuhns says additional units from the Keizer Police Department responded to investigate as did at least two units from the Salem Police Department. A Keizer Police Department K-9 team also responded to conduct a search for some of the fleeing suspects.

Kuhns says that at least five male subjects were found hiding in or near some bushes in the 200 block of Churchdale Avenue North at about 1:30 AM. "These individuals were found to be involved and were subsequently taken into custody for various crimes and violations," he added.

The investigation of this incident continued throughout the remainder of Sunday and is continuing today. Kuhns says they have determined that several gunshots were exchanged between individuals in or near the 4900 block of Wolf Street North.

"At least two private residences, a local business, and a stop sign were damaged by the bullets. Investigators are still in the process of evaluating the physical evidence at this time to determine the caliber of bullets, and the total number of shots that were exchanged."

He says interviews are still being conducted and a limited amount of information is being released at this time.

"No injuries were reported by homeowners, businesses or residents in the neighborhood. Investigators are withholding information pertaining to other individuals who may have sustained injuries as a result of this incident because releasing such information could compromise their investigation," Kuhns said.

19-year old Sabino Perez of Salem faces charges of Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree, Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree, Interfering with a Police Officer and Minor in Possession of Alcohol. His total bail amount was $8,500.

19-year old Hector Ramirez-Chacon of Salem faces charges of Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree, Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree and Interfering with a Police Officer. His total bail amount was $8,500.

19-year old Enrique Rodriguez of Salem faces charges of Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree, Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree and Interfering with a Police Officer. His total bail amount was $11,000.

Kuhns says they also arrested a 17-year old male and two 15-year old males for Curfew Violations. One of the 15-year olds was also charged with Minor in Possession of Alcohol.
