Award Winning Original Roots Bluegrass Band to Appear at Mt. Angel Performing Arts Center

Dennis Nelson, Tom Tower, Kathy Boyd and Tim Crosby
Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising

(MT. ANGEL, Ore.) - Doran Productions and the Mt. Angel Performing Arts Center will host an evening of family friendly, outstandingly entertaining original roots bluegrass with the award-winning group Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising.

Celebrating their 5th year together, 2010 has been a banner season for the band, with the release of their 3rd CD - a gospel recording called "Walk Humbly", 47 performances, a partnership with Brian Farrish Radio Promotions, and the recent win of the $10,000 prize in the 2010 International City Love Music Contest with a song about band leader Kathy Boyd's home town of Clatskanie, Oregon (the song was written by former Silverton resident Tom Tower).

Just for fun, a partnership with PopChips was established this past year and you will find the band promoting this healthy snack product wherever they go.

The band features not only band leader and bass player Kathy Boyd and former Silverton resident and banjo player Tom Tower, but also Salem residents Tim Crosby and Dennis Nelson - who is the current Roots Music Association Bluegrass Songwriter of the Year.

The band is excited to be returning to the Mt. Angel Performing Arts Center. "Everyone involved is such a joy." states Kathy Boyd, "From the facility host to the producers to the audience members themselves. This intimate venue is one of our favorite places to perform."

The Mt. Angel Performing Arts Center is located at 220 E Charles Street in downtown Mt. Angel. Tickets for the event are $12. For more information contact Ken and Margaret Doran at 503-873-9611.
