Amber Alert Issued for Singer Jennifer Hudson's 7-Year Old Nephew

The boy's grandmother and uncle were found murdered, and the 7-year old is missing.

(CHICAGO, Ill.) - The Illinois State Police issued an Amber Alert on Friday evening after a 7-year old boy, Julian King, was abducted in Chicago. Singer and Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson's mother, 57-year old Darnell Donnerson, and her 29-year old brother, Jason, were found shot to death, the result of an apparent domestic disturbance, and her nephew was abducted by the suspect, police say.

The suspect, William Balfour, was taken into custody Friday evening. Hudson's nephew, 7-year-old Julian King is still missing, and Balfour is refusing to cooperate with police or supply information, according to WFLD-Chicago. No charges had been filed at last report.

According to TMZ.com, Balfour listed Hudson's mother's address as a place of residence within the last year.

Balfour is currently on parole after serving nearly seven years in prison for attempted murder, vehicular hijacking and possessing a stolen vehicle, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections website.

Young Julian is a black male, 4 feet 11 inches, 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

The tragedy comes as Jennifer Hudson, who grew up in Chicago, continues to reach new heights in her career. She first gained far-reaching notoriety as one of the finalists on the third season of American Idol. She went on to star as Effie White in the 2006 motion picture adaptation of the musical Dreamgirls for which she won numerous awards.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Julian King is asked to call 911.
