(PACIFIC CITY, Ore.) - A Pacific City man is under arrest on Murder charges. Police say the arrest is connected to the disappearance of an Albany man missing since last July, who was the owner of a 47' fishing vessel. The suspect was arrested in Oregon and is pending extradition to Washington State for arraignment related to the murder of 53-year old John Curtiss Adkins, last seen on the south Washington Coast, whose body has not been found. On October 20, 2009 at approximately 2:30 p.m. Oregon State Police (OSP) detectives arrested 47-year old Erin Dean Rieman at his Pacific City, Oregon residence. Earlier Tuesday the Pacific County, Washington District Attorney's Office obtained a warrant for Rieman's arrest charging Murder in the Second Degree and Theft in the First Degree. Rieman was lodged in Tillamook County Jail as a Fugitive From Justice pending an initial appearance in Tillamook County Circuit Court. Police say on the Fourth of July weekend, Mr. Adkins left with two men on the 47-foot fishing vessel "Tiger" from Garibaldi, Oregon to Ilwaco, Washington. John Adkins had not been heard from since he was last sighted July 5th at the Port of Ilwaco. A family member contacted Long Beach, Washington police to report him missing on July 7th. One of the men John Adkins was with on the boat trip was Rieman, his business partner and co-owner of the fishing vessel. Following the disappearance of John Adkins, Rieman returned back to the Garibaldi area with the fishing vessel, the Tiger. The joint ongoing investigation involves OSP Criminal Investigations Division, Tillamook County Sheriff's Office, Long Beach, Washington Police Department, and Pacific County District Attorney's Office. Mr. Adkins' family were notified of today's arrest. No further information will be released without authorization from the Pacific County, Washington District Attorney's Office.

Is this the John Adkins who went to South Salem High School? If so, he was such a wonderful person and my thoughts are with him and his family. I would like to know if he was from Salem. Thank you ~

Congratulations to the family and friends of John Adkins, it looks like justice will be served. This is really sad. These cases almost always come down to money. Makes you wonder about becoming partners in business!

So the man got killed for a boat and some money. It is a sad world we live in. Hopefully this soulless man gets life in prison or a family member of Adkins...
