(SEATTLE) - It is with great honor that I proudly present to you this year's Lester Grinspoon Lifetime Achievement Award recipient winner, Mr. Vivian McPeak. The announcement was made last month at the 2012 High Times Medicinal Cannabis Cup event, held in Seattle, Washington. Vivian McPeak is a well-known Seattle man. He was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, coming to Seattle for his sophomore year of high school. He lived in California, but returned to Seattle in 1986 after his California rock group broke up. The first "big thing" Vivian accomplished during his new life in Washington State was when he founded the "Seattle Peace Heathens Community Action Group" in 1988. From rallying in protest after protest for many global issues, and being kicked off the federal courthouse steps for peacefully protesting against wars, to even being arrested for hanging up concert promotion fliers thru town after a ban had been instilled outlawing posters - Vivian helped to overturn that law, and fix a great many other things for the greater good of the people. Without a doubt, Vivian McPeak is best known as the Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Seattle Hempfest. The enormously successful annual event began in 1991, called the "Washington Hemp Expo". It was later renamed and remains the "Seattle Hempfest", and to date is known as "the biggest protestival of its kind, ever, anywhere!" because attendance has grown from 500 people to a guesstimate of more than 300,000. Salem-News.com is proud to declare Vivian a personal friend to whom we are all proud of and happy for because he is indeed a true example of how the community and society should strive to be, as a freedom fighting activist and cannabis warrior hero.
