(ALBANY, Oregon) - Police say a Salem man was assaulted Monday evening at about 8:00 p.m. 47-year old Charles Peters told police he was assaulted by two men near the intersection of Pine and Commercial Street NE, according to Salem Police Lt. Steve Birr. "Peters was struck multiple times with an unidentified blunt instrument. Peters was transported to Salem Hospital where he still remains," Birr said. Salem Police detectives arrested two brothers shortly before 2:00 p.m. today in connection with the assault. 39-year old Donald Eugene Harvey of Albany was arrested at his place of employment in Corvallis. He has been charged with third-degree Assault. 41-year old William Dean Harvey of Albany, was taken into custody at his brother's residence. He is being charged with first-degree Assault. Birr says both brothers are being booked into the Marion County Correctional Facility. "This was not a random act of violence and stemmed from jealousy over a personal relationship," Birr added. He asks anyone who witnessed the assault Monday evening or has information about this crime, to call Detective Mike Quakenbush at (503)588-6050.
