Why Romney Won't Do

As the Mormon nominee of the Republican Party, Romney sings the evangelical song with lyrics provided by Karl Rove.

(PASO ROBLES, CA) - Dwight D Eisenhower, at the end of his presidency, warned us against the Military/Industrial Complex which was exhumed by the Geo. W. Bush Administration for use in the Iraq fiasco and is what Romney would reinstate to fulfill his promise of creating the most powerful military in the world to be staffed we may assume by many of the million + he says he will add to the employment rolls. Talk about killing two birds with one stone; this is how it is done!

Romney criticizes Obama for withdrawing from Iraq, his plan to withdraw all troops from Afghanistan by the end of 2014, and his handling of the Arab Spring. He and The GOP hierarchy prefer that America be the policeman of the world to stop what they feel is an affront to civilization according to their lights. It shouldn’t take a Historian or philosopher to know that perpetual conflict would be the result. I can’t believe this is what Americans want. Enough, already!

Barack Obama inherited the Iraq and Afghan wars from Geo. W. Bush who as a born-again Christian of the evangelical ilk believed what he was told by the GOP’s Holy See and Evangelist cohorts throughout the land, and preemptively invaded Iraq. He was also convinced that“ with Jesus in his heaven, all’s right with the world,” and failed to heed Mother Nature by ignoring what he believed Jesus would handle. But Hurricane Katrina and the devastation of New Orleans proved his mentors wrong; now he avoids politics in favor of peaceful withdrawal and retirement.

As the Mormon nominee of the Republican Party, Romney sings the evangelical song with lyrics provided by Karl Rove. Evangelists control the Party, but what of the Mormon LDS; does it consider Romney’s run for President as in the best interest of Mormonism? It’s a question begging to be answered, but which suggests a confused presidency due to differing agendas if Romney is elected President.

America is experiencing an attempt to alter the government as envisioned by the founders who left no doubt they intended to erect a Secular Government not guided by Spiritual Ideals or Churches of any kind. Evangelicals are not an institutional body such as the Catholic Church from which Protestants won their freedom in the 18th Century. Their preachers are of the Puritan stock whose beliefs are simple, but tenacious. Puritans migrated from Switzerland after the schism, believed in witches - described as deviants from accepted dogma - and joined the Pilgrim Colony in Massachusetts with whom they lived temporarily. Together they killed their last witch in 1721, the same century the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution were written, and Separation of Church and State put an end to witch hunts in America.

Evangelists have replaced Puritans in name, but have retained their dogmatic belief in Jesus as Christ, and the Bible as the true word of God. From these tenets Mega Churches blossomed, often with a great deal of imagination and showmanship by preachers more interested in making money than saving souls. The Crystal Palace of Robert Schuler’s “Hour of Power” in Garden Grove, CA was bought by the Catholic Church recently for millions of dollars following Schuler’s retirement. But Colorado holds the prize for Evangelists who brought shame on themselves and dishonor to their trade. Still, Evangelists argue, it is the not the messenger, but the message that endures, especially as it is taught by them.

It is a philosophy that allows for deceit, lies, or whatever it takes to advance the power of Evangelists and their movement toward becoming a theocracy controlled by them rather than the Secular Government designed by our Founding Fathers who, if they referenced a deity now and then, did so in the abstract rather than by particular verbiage which Evangelists and their evangelical tribe now say are references to Jesus. It is not! But as I have said, Evangelists believe only in Jesus as God and the Bible as the Word of God, which was to affect Geo. W. Bush adversely.

After decades of laying the groundwork, The Republican Holy See arrived at a level of dominance over its base; members of Congress as well as a multitude of lesser officials at the local, state, and federal levels of government, especially courts of the appellate genre, where appointments to or elections favored persons whose faith is of the evangelical leaning, up to and including justices of the Supreme Court where, presumably, the majority could be counted on to deliver on cue; that is until Chief Justice John Roberts decided in favor of Obama’s Affordable Health Care Act, after which he was described as a traitor by his fellows of an otherwise majority. Robert’s decision came as a complete surprise to the Republican Holy See’s power brokers, thereby denying them for the moment, their attempt to control our government as Rome once dominated Catholicism.

The goal of Evangelists has been a conscious and determined conspiracy from beginning to end, eventually to create for the Republican Party of God the means to wrest control from the Secularists so they could assume over us the power of their misguided faith in a Theocracy of their making contrary to the will of most Americans.

The latest example of how things are done under the plan of the Holy See is obstructionism which prevents passage of The Jobs Act leaving a pool of under-employed and unemployed persons treading water, waiting for work the Jobs Act can provide; upgrading or rebuilding infrastructure, repairing or building new roads and bridges, and constructing new projects such as high speed rail systems, etc., that would employ persons at every level of the social spectrum, work that could bridge the unemployment gap or eliminate it entirely in the years to come.

But obedient Republicans wont act until after the election hoping a win will allow them to take credit for what they now prevent by declaring themselves on a seven-week vacation, lasting until after the election!

If Obama wins a second term and Democrats can win back the House and retain control of the Senate this November, it could restore to America its Secular design, and secure for posterity our Secular System that opposes the anarchistic and dangerous design the Party of God seeks to impose on us.

Kenneth G. Ramey, Salem-News.com's Religion and Philosophy Writer, confronts the hard issues of politics and religion from a logical point of view that combines interesting insight with history into the truth, or lack thereof, that underlies the strengths and weaknesses of the Religious Right’s determination to use American politics for its own misguided, or selfish, interest. It’s rare for a writer to balance his writing between religious values and the secular guarantees of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights with the knowledge that Ken possesses, and to do it so effectively.

Ken was born in Minnesota but was raised in California since 1932. He is the youngest of four boys raised by his mother alone during the dark years of the Great Depression. He Graduated from SFSU in the 1970s when in his mid-forties, majoring in Spanish North American History, and added three years of post-graduate study, much of it in Philosophy and Religion. We live at a critical time in history and believe Ken's views represent the view of many who are tired of the commercialism and false interpretations about religion today. Kenneth do you think it was some religious ferver that motivated LBJ to get us involved in the civil war in Vietnam? Which Nixon inherited just like how Ike inherited the Korean War and other middle eastern problems from FDR and Truman? Approximately ten times more Americans were killed in Vietnam than in current conflicts which president Bush inherited from the feckless leadership of Carter and Clinton. Was it the lack of spirituality and rejection of his marriage vows by Clinton that led to his ommission of action in Rwanda that led to the death of about one million souls? That million killed there happened very quickly and was more people killed than all the casualties America has had since our founding. Anyway I'm a firm believer in freedom of religion, but I noticed you never offer an opinion on Islam? How do you think that religion works on the secular environment you opine for Kenneth?
