Linn Detectives Serve Search Warrant for Explosives

Police say explosives in a dumpster led to a residence where materials that may have been used in making an explosive device were discovered.

(SWEETR HOME, Ore.) - Several suspicious items, believed to be explosives, were located by employees from Sweet Home Sanitation September 30th, according to Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller.

"These devices were discovered in a dumpster and did not appear to have been placed with the intent of damaging any specific property or person, but were located in trash that Sweet Home Sanitation had received," Mueller said.

The Oregon State Police Bomb Squad determined the suspicious items were indeed explosives and rendered them safe.

An investigation into the explosives led to the execution of a search warrant at 40429 Crawfordsville Drive near Sweet Home this morning, Mueller said.

The search warrant was served by the the Linn County Regional SWAT Team and the Marion County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team.

Mueller said no explosive devices were found, "However, materials that may have been used in making a device were discovered."

After initial execution of the search warrant, the investigation continued by Linn County Sheriff's Office detectives, with the assistance of the Oregon State Police Bomb Squad, as well as personnel from the Salem Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and a bomb detection K9 unit from the Federal Protective Service, Mueller said.
