(HILLSBORO, Ore.) - The Hillsboro City Council will hold a public hearing on October 5th to receive input on proposed policy options for keeping certain kinds of livestock, chickens, and other animals within the city limits. The City Council meeting begins at 7:00 pm in the Hillsboro Civic Center, 150 E. Main.

The language being considered contains the following provisions:

  • A one-time $25 permit to keep livestock. A new permit would be required if the owner obtained livestock of a different classification.
  • Animal closures would be located at least 10 feet from all property lines.
  • Owners of livestock would need a lot that is at least 10,000 square feet in size.

Public testimony will be taken at the meeting prior to council deliberations of the proposed policy options. For more information on this issue, please go to www.ci.hillsboro.or.us and click on the city animal review link.
