(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division (OSP) troopers from the Astoria Area Command office are asking for the public's help to identify the suspect(s) responsible for illegally shooting three elk and leaving them to waste near borders of Clatsop and Columbia counties. A reward of up to $500 for information leading to an arrest in this case is being offered by the Oregon Hunters Association Turn in a Poacher (T.I.P.) Program. According to OSP Trooper Joseph Warwick, on November 13, 2010 a group of hunters shot and killed three elk, two cows and a calf, and left them to waste off Boeck Ranch Road near the borders of Clatsop and Columbia counties. A witness reported three vehicles were seen in the area as the unknown persons were standing over the elk. The vehicles which are believed to have been with persons camping in the area are described as: Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call the T.I.P. (Turn in Poacher) line at 1-800-452-7888, Trooper Warwick at (503) 325-5515 ext. 53, or Trooper Tim Schwartz at (503) 325-5515 ext. 107. The T.I.P. reward program pays for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) involved in the illegal killing, taking, possession or waste of big game animals, upland game birds or waterfowl.
