(PILOT ROCK, Ore.) - Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Sunday morning's single vehicle fatal traffic crash on Highway 395 near Pilot Rock that resulted in the death of an adult female and injuries to a male passenger. Names of the deceased driver and injured passenger are being released in this update.

According to OSP Lieutenant Greg Sherman, on November 28, 2010 at approximately 3:30 a.m. a 2008 Ford F350 pickup driven by Patricia Eversull, age 36, from Pendleton, was northbound on Highway 395 near milepost 7 when it started to slide on the icy road. Eversull tried to correct the sliding pickup but it traveled off the roadway onto the east side shoulder. The pickup struck a rock and dirt embankment, bounced back onto the roadway and overturned. The pickup came to rest on its top in the northbound lane.

Passenger Daniel Sheets, age 39, from Chehalis, Washington freed himself from the overturned pickup and attempted to help Eversull who was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency responders.

Sheets was transported by Pendleton Fire & Ambulance to St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Both occupants were using safety restraints and the pickup's airbags deployed.

OSP troopers from the Pendleton Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Pilot Rock Fire Department and ODOT assisted at the scene.
