Reward Offered to Solve Illegal Kill and Waste of Elk in Tillamook County

Salem-News.com

(TILLAMOOK, Ore.) - Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish and Wildlife Division is asking for the public's help to identify the suspect(s) responsible for the illegal killing of three elk, and the waste of two of them, in the Trask Unit near Tillamook.

A reward of up to $1000 is being offered by the Oregon Hunter's Association for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.

On November 20, 2010 the OSP Tillamook office received information of three illegally killed elk found near the East Fork Bypass Road (Trask River).

Senior Trooper Lalo Guerra responded to the complaint and found one elk skinned and gutted with most of the meat taken, a second elk whose head was removed and no meat taken, and a third elk that was untouched.

Anyone with information is asked to call Senior Trooper Guerra at (503) 815-3315 or the Turn in Poacher (TIP) number at 1-800-452-7888.
