Red Cross Volunteers Help 9 People in Stayton Affected by House Fire

Red Cross

(Stayton, Oregon) - Volunteers with the American Red Cross responded to a house fire Monday evening, November 22nd, in the 18000 block of Old Mehama Road in Stayton.

The fire was reported at approximately 5:30pm. All tenants were able to escape the fire that destroyed the 2-story residence. One resident was treated and released for smoke inhalation.

Red Cross volunteers provided 4-adults and 5-children ages 8 through 13 with shelter, food, clothing and emotional support. Several pets were lost in the fire.

How to Help: In Oregon, the American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disaster every 20 hours; supplies more than 90 percent of Oregon's blood; teaches thousands of Oregonians lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization – not a government agency – and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
