(KLAMATH FALLS) - Police say an 82-year old man died Saturday afternoon when he lost control of his vehicle on Highway 140W in the Lake of the Woods Safety Corridor and crashed into a large tree.

OSP Sergeant Robert Fenner, says 82-year old Joe Lenox Ston of ethe Rocky Point area, west of Klamath Falls, was driving eastbound on Highway 140W near milepost 47, when he lost control of the vehicle on icy conditions and drove off the highway and rolled before striking a large tree.

Fenner says Mr. Stone was using safety restraints and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

OSP troopers from the Klamath Falls Area Command office are continuing the investigation. They say 'driving too fast for conditions' is a possible contributing factor.

ODOT and Harriman Rural Fire Protection District personnel assisted at the scene.

Oregon State Police troopers are continuing the investigation.
