Oregon Cascades Under Snow Advisory Until Midnight

Chains are required for motorists traveling to Mount Hood on Highway 26.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - The National Weather Service has issued a Snow Advisory until midnight Monday for the north and central Oregon Cascades.

Snow levels in the Cascades today will range from 1,500 feet near Mount Hood to 2,000 feet in the Willamette Pass, and could go as low as 1,000 feet in some parts of the Cascades.

Snow is expected to continue to fall throughtout the day, then diminish from north to south this afternoon.

Snow showers on Monday are expected to bring another 4 to 9 inches to the Cascades.

A Snow Advisory means that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities.

Chains are required for motorists traveling to Mount Hood on Highway 26.

Heavy snowfall is prompting the requirement for chains. Motorists traveling in the area should be prepared for winter driving conditions; several inches of snowfall, freezing temperatures, and brisk winds.
